Upgrade to finger print reader

I bought this d620 used after about 3 1/2 month i found out that the upper left mouse button was bad (will repeat at random times) i have been looking to get a whole top with touch pad i currently do not have a finger print reader and i am finding them with a finger print read and would like to have one so my friend cannot figure out my password by watching. I am a skilled tech but i have not seen one with a finger print reader to check if it will work.

Main question: Can a palmrest with a fingerprint reader be installed in a system that currently does not have one?

Thanks.

Dell lattitude d620 won't factory restore ?

Hi,

Please go through the below step, you can able to do it.

1) Shut down the Dell Latitude D620 if it's currently powered on. Click "Start" in the left-hand corner of the screen to access Windows' shut down options. Alternatively, press and hold the Latitude's power button, located on the top edge of the laptop's keyboard.

2) Turn on the computer by pressing the laptop's power button.

3) Press and hold "F8" on the top of the laptop's keyboard immediately after turning the computer on. If the Windows logo appears on the screen, you're too late and must repeat Steps 1 through 3 again. If you pressed it in time, a list of text options will appear on the screen.

4) Use your keyboard's arrow keys to scroll down to "Repair Your Computer." Push the "Enter" key on your keyboard.

5) Choose a language from the next list and select "Next." If you've password-protected your laptop, you will be prompted to enter your user name and password at this time.

6) Press "Dell Factory Image Restore." A new window will appear. Click "Next" and select the option for reformatting the hard drive and restoring the factory condition of the laptop.

I use a hand held mouse. How do I disable the finger mouse

If by 'finger mouse' you mean the touch pad then yes you can enable or disable it as you wish.

For Acer Aspire models you need to press and hold the 'Fn' button and then press the 'F7' button (It has blue square on it with a hand over it).

Repeat the process to enable the touch pad.

Advent 5401 left touchpad button broken

Had a similar problem a couple of months ago, The left button started playing up, not working with every mouse click, it gradualy got worse till it was nearly unusable.. I suspected that the microswitch under the silver button had some dirt in it. After taking a deep breath I removed the battery and the screws that hold the case lower and upper halves together and was able to seperate the case front by about 3/4 of an inch. Then using a contact cleaner Servisol Super 10 and supplied flexible straw I squirted cleaner into both mouse click buttons. After waiting for cleaner to evaporate and resecuring case halves and replacing battery I switched on .... The button works 100%..

The curser is stuck in the middle of the screen. I move my finger over the pad and it will not move. I have restarted 3 times to no avail.

Is there a button near the trackpad that might be lit up in red or another color? On some laptops, there is an option to turn off the trackpad by pushing a button. Commonly, its right above it. An example is in this picture in the upper right corner:

If there is no button, try connecting a USB mouse and see if you can make it work that way. If so, you may have a hardware or driver issue. You can download drivers from the manufactures site.

Touchpad

You could clean it.
Personally I plug a USB Mouse, Cos I cannot be Bothered with a lot of wasted energy in using a touchpad. Far faster with a mouse. The other answer is Statutery rights.

I have dv9000 notebook computer. how to config there finger print password

1. In Windows, double-click the VeriSoft Access Manager icon in the notification area of the taskbar.
2. On the “My Identity” page, click Log On, located in the upper-left corner of the page.
The VeriSoft Access Manager Logon Wizard opens.
3. On the “Introduce Yourself” page, enter the user's Windows password, if one has been established,
and then click Next.
4. On the “Services and Applications” page, click I want to, and then click Register Fingerprints.
NOTE: By default, VeriSoft Access Manager requires registration of at least 2 different
fingers.
5. When the VeriSoft Access Manager Registration Wizard opens, click Next, and then slowly swipe
your finger across the sensor.
NOTE: The right index finger is the default finger for enrolling the first fingerprint. You can
change the default by clicking the finger you want to register first, on either the left hand or
the right hand. When you click a finger, it will be outlined to show it has been selected.
6. Continue swiping the same finger over the fingerprint sensor until the finger on the screen turns
green.
NOTE: The progress indicator advances after each finger swipe. Multiple swipes are
necessary to register a fingerprint.
NOTE: If you need to start over during the fingerprint registration process, right-click the
highlighted finger on the screen and then click Start Over.
7. Click a different finger on the screen to register, and then repeat steps 5 and 6.
NOTE: If you click Finish before registering at least 2 fingers, an error message is
displayed. Click OK to continue.
8. After you have registered at least 2 fingers, click Finish.
9. To set up the fingerprint reader for a different Windows user, log on to Windows as that user and
then repeat steps 1 through 8.
