Yes you should be fine. You have to configure the router before you can access the router, That should be covered in your manual. Also look for a button or switch on your computer that turn your wireless on and off. Make sure this is set to on.

Assuming you're using the Netgear Smart Wizard software, go to your settings screen and delete all the profiles. After that, create a new one and put in the settings for your NEW network, then save it.

HP photosmart C5580 wireless printing problem

You laptop will not be able to connect to the printer using the bluetooth technology. But the good news is that you can use the printer thru your home network by having the desktop that the printer is connected to be part of the same home network that your laptop is part of and then share your printer on our desktop and then select it as a printer to use on your laptop.
This link has instructions for all of your home network instructions.

Unable to connect to the internet with a new loptop.

is your wifi broadcasting non-secured signal? try protecting your wireless network with a password. In your case, it might be caused by incompatible protocol like 802.11 a/b/g and if your encryption method is incompatible with your router.

Setup your encryption to WAP not WAP2 in your router interface (http;//192.168.1.1) and configure your Vista to connect to your network using that encryption.

Internet/network problems

Connecting the laptop to your network using a network cable, does this solve your Internet problems?
Does this works without the Internet connection dropping out?
If the wireless connection has a low signal, try positioning the wireless router or the laptop to get a better signal strength.
Also try reinstalling your wireless driver.

Having trouble connesting my new hp laptop with my usr8054 wireless network

greetings my name is Mark and I will be glad to assist you. First go to control panel then to network connections. you are looking for the wireless connection, with xp you simply right click on the wireless icon and wou will see view available networks, left click on this and a box will appear that will show the networks in your area that you may attempt to hook up to. If your router is a two wire on the bottom of the router or side is the serial number the last three are the name of your 2-wire examole (2wir743) if it is a lynksys click on that and so on in other words you need to find the name of your network router. When you do you will click on the name and then click on connect it will then prompt you for either a "wep or wps" key , this is the combination number of your router to unlock it. It is between five and twelve numbers.there my be a utility for you computer this makes the process better. This process is not hard and i'm sorry if it was drawn out to explain it to you. It is easier to walk you through on th e phone once and you will get it.
Take care, be mucho blessed,
Mark

DV4000 cant connect to wireless network

HP bought several motherboards from the same company in China. These boards work for about 15 months then they can't find the wireless card. This is caused by a defect in the North Bridge chip overheating over time. This chip is not replaceable at the local level. You can send it back to HP for a replacement and sometimes they will charge you $300 - $500, or you can just replace the motherboard yourself. Check with them first since there is an ungoing lawsuit regarding these boards. Either way the only fix is to replace the motherboard. This is also a problem for the dv6000 and the dv9000 models. HP knows that 30% of these will fail.

Mike

Wireless doest not work (USR8054)

When you set your security, try using WEP personal as this is the most compatible with your things. Also, it is a good idea to put your computers on the network before you set your password.
