Question about Air Conditioners

1 Answer

I have a Ducane fits all 92 my lanlord installed, about 3 months ago.The thermostat is a new digital. The temp is set on 68,and if i go to 72 for example, the furnace starts and runs fine for about 3 to 5 minutes. The burner shuts off,the blower continues to run,And the buner tries to relight, and it fails to do so.The only way to get the furnace to run again and blow hot air is to shut the system off and restart.

Sounds like you are not proving flame to me. Could be a variety of things. I think it may be the board...but that is a guess from past history with Ducane

Check the thermostat and make sure the fan switch is set on "Auto". If it is set on "ON" the blower will run constantly.

verify that the thermostat is completing the circuit on a call for cooling, check the contactor at the condensing unit, verify the low voltage, the wiring may be crossed somewhere.

Hello.I think they are on to something with shortcycling on temp sensor.I think it should be sampling the return air instead of (inside coils ?).A 2*f dead band use to be built in (factory installed) to thermostats to prevent on/off, but not sure in this case.Try a new sensor location(return air) and see if anything changes.

Thermostat with huge temp swing

It is normal for a thermostat to have a 2 to 3 degree swing, any tighter and it will tend to cycle the heat and cooling ssytem on and off, very hard on equipment.
You can purchase a digital electronic thermostat, the higher end thermostats will allow you to close the swing down to 1 degree, just remember the above, that I stated.
You will need to read the install and owners manual, to figure out how to change the temp swing.
If this has been helpful, please rate the new guy :)
Please get back to me, if you have anymore questions.
Have a great Day.
Sincerely,
Paul Gibson

When out temp is below 50, heater does not produce enough heat

Sounds to me like the thermostat or thermostat wires are wrong.
If you open the t-stat make sure no bare wires are touching one another.
Typical wire codes/colors are red to R,green to G,yellow to Y,w to white or w1,orange to O,blue to common(C),brow to E.
These should be the same in the air handler as well as the outside condensing unit.
Some installer may use different colors for some other reason.
Verify these colors throughout and report back.
Has the problem existed for the 2.5 years or is it recent?

New Goodman condenser unit run almost contiously using too much e

I'm not sure of the kilowatts. The 10 min on and 5 off is telling me there is to much heat by the thermostat or you house needs more insulation. The new compressor is designed for more efficient run time. The other thing is the unit to big for your house? It should run 10 -15 min when low humidity is in the house. Otherwise longer if its pretty warm inside.

I have a Cozy one-sided gas wall heater. It is no longer lighting the burners when the wall thermostat reaches the temperature set point. The thermostat will "click" on, but the burners won't ignite in the...

Can you remove the front cover to the wall unit? Look for the wiring and follow it till you see a round about the size of a fifty cent piece. Should have 3 of them. One of them is not closing and allowing the signal to go through. So turn up the t-stat to call for heat take each one of the limit switches and by pass them one by one till you find the one that is bad. Depending on where you hit the cover is where I would look first. The limit's are rated by temperature so replace with correct size. You should be able to see the temp. on the limit something like 180 is what you are looking for. Also make sure the wires are in good shape where they connect to the switches. Might have a loose connection. ken

Carrier Infinity DC motor drive problems

Contact the company that installed the unit. Its new, under warranty, Anything you do could void the warranty. If they do not take care of the problem without charges contact Carrier and tell them what's going on. The company who installed the unit is responsible for making it run correctly. Good luck. kstfas
