Question about Woods 201 cu. ft. Upright Freezer V2003RW3

Woods Freezer Makes Loud Vibrating Noise at 10pm each night

Freezer makes a loud vibrating noise each night at exactly the same time, lasts about 5-10 mins, sounds like it's coming from the compressor. Doesn't make this noise at any other time.

Is there some kind of switch in the electricity supply at nighttime that could be causing this ? How does the freezer know what time it is if not ?

Thanks

Mat

Sounds like either your compressor is loose and just rattling or the compressor is off balance and its rolling around inside the seal can.  take a look at it when it is making the noise.   put your hand on the compressor (careful   might be hot)   if it feel like it running smoothly then i would call an electrician cause that kinda puts me out of ideas without being there...  sorry

Good luck

Check the condenser fan (outside at the rear) and check the coil isn't baking hot. Electronics or board wouldn't cause your symptoms. Check the simple things first!

The freezer has not been used for over a year,

The humming noise is most likely from vibration, check to make sure the freezer is level.

If it is level look in the back lower area there is a compressor, black component about the size of a bowling ball, make sure nothing has fallen on it or touching it causing the noise.

My chest style freezer makes a loud clunking noise every so often. What could it be?

If you hear this noise when the unit shuts off, you might even feel it vibrate the floors. This would be a compressor that is on its last leg, I would start shopping, but you are in no immediate rush, unless its happened for quite a while.

The motor in my freezer makes a very loud noise and sounds like it is trying to start, it takes a few seconds before it stops the noise, then starts running the freezer.

That's usually mounts inside the compressor. It could still last awhile so if you can put up with the noise just wait for it to quit before replacing the compressor or getting a new fridge.
