I have a belkin wireless

I have a belkin wireless router g and it is connected to my modem. My computer and my XBOX 360 have ethernet cords connected to the router. They work fine and run properly. Now I also have a laptop (Compaq Presario) and it wont connect with an ethernet cord and when i try to connect wireless it says validating idenity, and it cant find a certificate to connect to belkins54g. How can i get my laptop to connect to my router through wireless?
