Mustek Scan Express A3 USB

We've had the scanner for a little over 2yrs. It worked ok until recently. All the color pictures scanned are faded and have SEVERAL raindow colored stripes horizontally across the image. Any line artwork scanned appears with gray horizonal stripes. We've tried reinstalling the software and downloading new drivers but no luck. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Got same problem. Beginning to suspect the traveling lamp or associated electronics. Looking out for parts suppliers for elimination trials. Strange, once in a far while it works. Updated drivers again this very day.Suggest you try a good power adapter, and if you are technical, search for loose connections. Will keep you posted if I solve mine, being an electrical engineer, NOT electronics.

I have purchased a second hand mustek A3 usb scanner, it powers up but wont scan. I have downloaded the drivers from Mustek. When I click on the direct scan icon on my desktop it opens the programme but...

When is tah last time you can scan with your scanner? You can always try to uninstall and reinstall the software of the scanner to fix the problem with scanning. and if there is an available update for teh software or firmware of teh device try to do so. ok?.

I've had a similar problem with the streaks, lines and color bleeds appearing in the scan. Try uninstalling the all software and drivers for the scanner and reinstall. Worked for me. Have had to do this a couple of times since I've owned the scanner... about three to four years now.

Scanner won't initialize


Hi,
It could be something to do with the bundled software having a missing or corrupt TWAIN32 file.. But you can Scan using Windows XP itself.

My Mustek A3 Scanner Compltetely Freezes Itself and Photoshop


I'm having the same problem with my Mustek A3 and I didn't have this problem at all until I installed the newest version of McAfee virus protection...ever since I installed that stupid program, every time I go to scan something with the Mustek scanner through Photoshop, now it freezes on me at the initializing scanner screen. I even tried the system restore to reset everything before the McAfee was installed and miraculously the scanner works perfectly again. So whatever McAfee has on that disk is screwing up my scanner which is really irritating. And yeah, I tried downloading the new drivers from the Mustek site before I did the system restore and that didn't help at all either.
