I have an inspiron 1525, and my touchpad won't respond. I've tried to update the driver, but it says it's up to date when I search for the software.

My inspiron 1525 is brand new, so the driver on dell.com is already on my system. Not sure what else i can do to fix this

The above link is not working right now so just go to www.dell.com then select "downloads" and then select your computer model and download the latest touchpad driver!!
then your problem is solved..

How do I switch off or turn down the sensitivity on my touchpad? I have a dell inspiron 1525?

It is in the O/S software.

If your using windows you go to control panel and then find the mouse. You can change the touchpad sensitivity there.

Sometimes the dell inspiron 1525 touchpad works ok (never like it should) and other times it won't move. It freezes up and just won't move. I waste so much time trying to get that arrow to move around...

You will need to go to www.support.dell.com there you will have to download the corect drivers from the touchpad,as it would seem that you have a driver problem. If not you might have to replace the palmrest.
Good Luck

How do i get the scroll on the side of my dell inspiron 1525 to work again?

You will need to go to the support section over at Dell and enter in your service tag from the bottom of the laptop. You then need to look in the "drivers" section and download the Dell Synaptics Touchpad drivers and install them. That should bring your scrolling area of the touchpad back to life.

I want to deactivate my touch pad on my dell inspiron 1525 laptop. Please advise how

If you do not see a Touchpad icon in your systray(lower right), go to:

Start/Control Panel/System

On the left choose "Device Manager".

Select "Mice and other pointing devices" and highlight "Dell Touchpad"

Either right click and "Uninstall" or click the uninstall icon at the top.

Restart your machine and it will automatically update the driver from Dell which will put the Touchpad icon back in the system tray.

Click on this icon and go to "Device Select"

Check the "Disable Touchpad/Pointing stick when external USB mouse id present.
