Question about Kenmore Elite HE4 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Usedd 6.6cft kenmore freezer doen't get cold.

Recently purchase a use maybe 2 1/2 year old 6.6 cft freezer from a gaurage sale $160. Got home and plugged it in, powerlight comes on and quick freeze light comes on but doesn't get cold at all. Nothing. No sounds of anything can be heard. I figure some kind of fan should turn on or something. The freezer looks immaculant. I don't mind poss spending a few dollars but to spend $70 for a sears rep to come out just to diagnose seems excessive. Any help will do. Thank you in advance. TD.

For a used freezer of 6.6 cuft. that price seems a bit high. Second I recommend that before purchase of any used product that it be operated before the deal is sealed. Warranties only extend to first owners. Repairs are not recommended when these small sealed system loose their refrigerant charge. About the only way to tell the true age of one of these units is to check for a date code on the compressor. Bad deal. Get your money back.

The Kenmore 110.97281100 gas dryer starts but does not heat up. Is there an electronic ignition? If so, where is it located?

Followed the advice listed, and the dryer is working fine now.

Symptom: Ran the ful cycle, but never got warm/hot.

Problem: Thermocouple blew (20 years old and a "fair" amount of lint)

I noticed that I never heard the burner cycling through it's normal operation. So I made the assumption that it was a fuse or something further up the line. I pulled the thermocouple, and my brother tested it with a meter. If it really did fail "open", then this was dead.

The local parts store has a basket of the thermocouples on the parts counter. Replaced the part (1 screw, 2 spade connectors) and we are good to go....following the advice from the counter person, I also purchased a lint brush and was amazed at the amount of lint still in my "clean dryer" and exhaust vent.

Works great now and should get a few more years out of it. (cleaning the lint and exhaust pipe is now on thelist of regular maintenance)

Dryer not getting as warm as it used to. We recently moved into a new home and this problem has started since we moved. Kenmore EcoCare dryer is about 8 years old.

check to see if the dryer vent is clear (the pipe that runs to the outside of the house). this vent might be ristricting the air flow more than the one at the place you moved from

Kenmore 80 series Gas Dryer

HI. you are correct. this dryer, although gas, is using a Glow igniter system. most older models used the snap igniter that clicks over and over to spark the burner but, this dryer is only 2 years old so, it should be outfitted with a glow igniter system. This igniter is powered by electricity.

It works in conjunction with a Flame sensor.

Gas never ignites in any cycle in a 10yr old Kenmore dryer.

Chances are your igniter has gone bad. It must pull atleast 3.2 amps to open the gas valve and ignite the gas. A new igniter could probably purchased for 20 or 30 dollars.

Lint screen is warped and does not collect very much lint

If the dryer is less than a year old the lint screen should be covered by warranty I would replace the lint screen to see if that helps.

Kenmore Elite gas dryer

You said,

When I purchased my house 2 years ago, the sellers left the washer and dryer for me. They informed me of a problem with the dryer's start button not wanting to stay pressed in. They said their solutions was to use something to keep it pressed in and so I started using shipping tape for this purpose. Last night it finally stopped working - something behind the button is obviously broken (the switch). While looking for a replacement switch and an on-line service manual, I came across this site. I did order the part from Sears today and will attempt to repair the problem myself. If I cannot, I will buy a new dryer before I pay a tech $60+ to repair a 6 year-old dryer.
I did not have the model number when I called Sears but did have another number off the back of the dryer which was for the "panel control" and the number is 3979018. The sales rep did some cross-referencing and said I own model #11072932100. I was wondering if you can direct me to an on-line service manual so I will know how to replace the switch when it arrives.

Here our sponsor's site to fine what you asked me for, a service manual!

You sound like you are right on target !
Bless You, Huuum

Thank You

Older Kenmore upright freezer

ajrtz I will give you the same advice I gave my parents when their freezer did this. Just buy a new one. The new freezer will have a full warranty, be more engery efficent(may even qualify for rebate from power company), and you won't be worring when it is going to go down again. To resolve a seal system problem is usually around 500 dollars and that is the price of a new unit. Sorry but that is the best advice I can give you on this. just being honest. Note: If you buy get the best warranty on the sealed system you can. This is the cooling system.

My clothes smell burnt

If you have done any recent painting or drywall work, oftentimes the dryer will breathe these fumes and it will affect the smell of your clothes. (Just had the same problem) Maybe let the area air out and see if that corrects your problem
