Icicles in the freezer

I have an ongoing problem with icicles in my freezer. The icicles are coming from the pan under the freezer coils. I have tried other suggestions like turning off the power and letting the frig sit for several days, thus letting the drain tube defrost completely. This works for a month or two, but it always comes back. The frig was serviced about six months ago when the condenser fan quit. The fan was replaced along with the defrost timer. This problem started about 3 months after the repair, but happened before then. Any help is appreciated, thanks

Are you able to check if the drain tube is not clogged in some way? If you defrost it and run water through it, does it appear to run freely, or might you have some debris in the tube? Might the tube have been changed to one with smaller diameter, or might there even be a fold orn it to obstruct the water flow?

My automatic defrost freezer in my frig does not drain the water down to the drip pan. Instead the water is coming through vents inside the frig directly under the freezer. this is an older Amana. We...

If the drain isn't stopped up than the water isn't draining into the drain.

The evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the inside of the freezer at the bottom of the rear cover.

The unit is dripping water from the opening in the ceiling of refridgerator

The drain at the bottom of the freezer under the coils is clogged. Remove Icemaker if you have one, remove bottom floor of freezer, remove back panel of freezer. Use hairdryer to melt ice. ALL ICE MUST BE REMOVED. Use hot water and a turkey baster to get ice out of drain hole located about middle under coils. Be patient, do not chip ice with sharp tool. After ice is removed pour hot water down drain hole. Water must come out in drain pan under refrigerator(you may have to take front grille off to get to pan)

If Ice returns after a few weeks, you need to look at defrost thermostat which is usually clipped on cold coil at back of freezer. This part or the defrost timer could be defective.

The refigerator does not get cold. Long term ice forms in Freezer blocking through holes. When first pugged in seems to circulate air to refrigerator

Our blast freezer continues to frost up inside leaving icicles hanging down from the fan and a large icicle hanging from the top left white plastic piece. There is a defrost cycle. Should I somehow adjust...

Defrost termination is not working it should be terminating on temp. its terminating on time if it is a small blast freezer their is a high limit switch not opening. if you can adjust the time average defrost time 25-40 minutes try decreasing by 5 minutes no less than 20 minutes you will need to make sure that the coil clears after defrost.

STANDING WATER ON TOP SHELF

If the freezer is on top then empty out the freezer and remove the bottom and back liner of the freezer compartment usually phillips screws. In the back you will see the freezer coils along with a defrost element. Below these two items u will see a drip tray that collects water from the coils on defrost cycle, in the center of the pan will be a drain hole that connects to a hose that leads to a pan under the refrigerator.Normally the water is collected there and evaporated. The hole in the tray in the freezer is clogged. Thaw it and clean it until you can pour water in it and it goes to the pan down below. please rate me
