The only way I can think of without the use of any other software is to reinstall the OS. Since you just bought it there is nothing you'll need to back up. When it asks for location and size of partition, don't use the whole disk. Later you can use Disk Management to partition more.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I want to reformat on factory

Hi.

All the Sony VAIO Laptops are shipped with a Recovery Partition on the Hard Drive.

The Recovery partition will have the Pre-installed Operating System, Drivers and Sony Applications.

You may re-install the Operating System, Drivers or the Applications using this Recovery Partition.

You will find the detailed steps to reset the Computer to the Factory settings in the below link:

http://esupport.sony.com/

Open the above link and search with the article no: C1017279 in the search bar at the top of the page.

That should take you to the web page which has the detailed steps to perform the System Recovery.

Hope this helps.

Please feel free to contact for further assistance.

I removed service partition during win 7 install and i cant use one key recovery service in lenovo B560 laptop

This is true. The recovery partition would have recovered the original configuration only. Since you installed Win7, you don't need the partition anyway.

The laptop does not restart... deleted a file by error and do not have recovery disk sony vaio vgn-fs500

Hi,

The VAIO model is shipped with recovery partition called VAIO Recovery Wizard, You can use the same to get back the factory installed settings in the computer.

Please restart the computer and press and hold the F10 key to access the Recovery Wizard, if you have not changed preinstalled OS, you must be able to access the Recovery partition. Once you access the partition, please select "Restore C Drive" to perform a system recovery to set the computer back to factory settings. This will erase all the data saved in the hard drive of the computer.

You can also purchase the recovery discs for the computer by contact the Sony parts center at:
Priority Service: 1-239-768-7691
Toll Free Service: 1-800-488-SONY (7669)
Phone Hours:
Monday to Friday - 8:00 am to 12 am (Midnight) ET
Saturday and Sunday - 9:00 am to 8:00 pm ET

Thanks!!!!

Sony Vaio VGN-AR71J Windows 7 upgrade issue

The solution which I'm about to provide you will erase all the data from your laptop hence, data backup is what you shall think first.
In order to do a fresh install on your laptop you are first required to format your HDD completely. You are required to delete all the partitions on it and recreate new partitions. Your version of Vista home is not allowing to upgrade to windows 7 because both of them are through Microsoft. You have three options at this stage to completely format your HDD
1. Use a DOS bootable CD. Go to any XP PC. Put a new CD inside it right click on CD driver in explorer select Format and then check on create a DOS startup disk. It will make a dos bootable CD put that CD in your laptop and boot through CD it will take you to command prompt. In command prompt you type format C: then again type format D: do it for all the partitions your laptop has if format doesn't work then you can use deltree command. Once the partitions are formatted you can boot through your Win7 CD and install the OS.
2. Use a linux installer CD. boot through Linux installer CD install linux on your laptop and then install win 7 on it.
3. Use a third party disk management tool through which you can boot and erase all the partitions on your laptop.

OK

Expanding partitions does not make your hard drive bigger..it just rearranges space.

The best solution in this case is to purchase a bigger hard drive for your laptop.
