You may try the following steps:
Boot the computer in safe mode.
While booting press the F8 key and on the Windows Advance boot screen, select safe mode and press enter.
Once you are on the logon screen, select Administrator account.
Click on Start and rightl click on My computer, then click properties
Go to hardware tab and click on Device manager.
In the device manager look for Display adapter, Click on the + sign, right click on the listed devices and uninstall.
Now you should be able to boot the computer in normal mode.

Hi.
The solution depends on your graphic card. There are graphic adapters that do not support less than 1280 x 1024. In that case you will really need to replace the monitor.
Try setting the screen resolution from safe mode (see: Change your screen resolution)
If the resolution is restored to 1280x1024 after you set it manually, then you will need to replace the monitor because it is not compatible with the computer. There is no way out as that is the way the technology market works nowadays. Upgrading equipment is a must, not an option.
Regards.
