Hi Kimberley,
Looking at your brief description of the problem a possible fault may lie with power supply and or battery.
Have you access to another Armada power supply? if not does the light go green when Pc is turned off and fully charged.
I would be looking in these area's for the problem.
Good Luck,

THE COMPUTER MIGHT BE OVERHEATING AND SHUTTUNG DOWN TO PROTECT ITS SELF... IDK IF YOUR GOOD WITH COMPUTERS OR NOT BUT THERE IS A THING CALLED A CPU IN ALL COMPUTERS WHICH IN EASY WORDS BASICLY THE BRAIN OF THE COMPUTER AND IT HAS A STICKY MATERIAL ON TOP OF IT CALLED THERMAL PASTE THAT HELPS KEEP IT COOL CAUSE THE SECOND THE COMPUTER TURNS ON IT STARTS GETTING REAL HOT. IF THAT THERMAL PASTE IS GONE IT COULD EASILY OVERHEAT CAUSEING IT TO SHUTDOWN. ALSO IF THE LAPTOP IS IN YOUR LAP THE FANS IN THE COMPUTER COULD NOT THE MAKING ENOUGH COOL AIR CAUSE YOUR PANTS SHIRT WHATEVER IS BLOCKING IT FROM BREATHEING CAUSE IT ONCE AGAIN TO OVERHEAT AND SHUTTING DOWN TO PROTECT ITSELF.

try to power drain pc first. to do that, turn pc off, remove battery and ac adapter. press down power button for 15-20 sec, then but all back in and try to turn pc on. if still no go, you may need to replace battery or ac adapter, f it still wont work, possible motherboard replacement is needed.

My A215 wont stay powered up. It shut down and

Try running the computer on the Battery power and check if the power sustains. If not, then disconnect the power cord and remove the battery and leave it for a few hours then try turning it on.

If the problem exists then the power supply unit is required to be replaced. You may contact service center to get the power supply unit replaced.

How to log off

If you log off you only close your user session under windows, not turn off the computer.

If you suspend you turn off almost everything in the laptop like hardwire, cd or dvdrom and most peripherals but the computer stays on the consuming power.

If you hibernate what windows does is to store all in memory in a temporary file in the hard drive and turn off all the computer so when you turn it on again it will be as you last session with all your programs and documents you left open.

And if you turn off the computer it will close all your programs, close windows and turn off all the hardware.

Turns Off by itself

Causes for this problem can be any of the following:
1- CPU gets overheated. solution: clean dust from fan and heatsink assembly and donot forget to replace the heatsink compound, this is very important.
2- Memory problems. solution: use a program called MEMTEST86+ from the site http://www.memtest.org/ . It is a free and great program.
3-Power problem. By time the capacitors of the power supply gets dried. Causing them to not be able to fulfill power demands. solution: try working with power supply without battery. As the power supply has to run computer and charge battery. We reduce the load. If everything is fine. repair power supply by replacing deffective capacitor.
4-Battery problem. Try operation without battery.
5-Dried solders on motherboard or a component problem on the motherboard. Solution: no solution except replacing motherboard.
