Page 31-37 at this link http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00225826.pdf will show you how to replace the power supply. If you haven't added anything else in the case, the wattage can remain the same (205 watts) but I think that's fairly low. Leave some room for future expansions and up it to 350 watts or more.

Aw man! Sorry to hear that.. sucks :(
Are you going to buy a new motherboard? Changing that can be a pretty big job.. and don't make the mistake I made the first time I changed a motherboard (many years ago, now..) and put it down on the carpet, during the process, the static making it effectively dead..

But because you have the power pack and all these cards and drives, you might as well build some sort of machine.. It might even be fun.
Anyway I'm sorry to hear your bad news, but I wish you well.
Post back with any further developments..

Hp pavilion a705w - blue power light flashing, won't turn on

On the back of the power supply there is a 120/220 V AC selector switch.
It's possible that switch got knock on the wrong voltage position.

Pull the power cable. Move the switch back and forth between the two position.
Make sure you leave the switch in the correct selection. 120v = USA
If you have time, open the case and inspect the RAM module(s) and card(s). They can be un-sitted.
plug in power cord and power on the pc.

I need to change my power supply in my HP Pavilion a705w, and the screws are on the back, the 4 main to the supply, but I'm on the other side of the power supply and I can't get in there to change it. How...

There should be at least 4 more larger screws, maybe even "thumb screws", that will have to be removed as well. These screws hold the sides of the case on. Try removing those and sliding the sides back to open up the case

I have a hp pavilion a705w bout 12-30-04 it wont boot most times

That's because it has a failing power supply. I post this a lot. Why? Because 70% or more of computer failure, is directly related to the power supply. Next up is Electrolytic Capacitor failure on the motherboard, (The 'Caps' that surround the processor, more specifically. These are Voltage Regulators for the processor)

Then harddrive failure.

Many times you'll see a solution posted to use a Restoration disk, or System Restore. This is just a 'Band-Aid' approach. The power supply, for you, is the problem.

Replacing power supply for pavilion 3000 desktop. How hard is it to do?

no it is not hard. Open the side of the computer then unscrew the screw that is at the back of the CPU. Remove the wires that's connected to the CD rom, hard drive and mother board before removing the whole power supply. then you can replace in that same position as you see the previous power supply.

You might need to update the graphics chipset for your motherboard. Go to the computer manufacturer's website and download the latest graphics driver and this will fix your problem.
