The only place i've ever seen that fixes small digital cameras like that is portatronics, but it's a mail-in business.

My KOdak Easyshare LS743 camera error #45

This is a lens error. KODAK suggests a repair for this fault.

However due to spare part shortage this model is no longer repaired. Instead KODAK offers a trade up option where you will have the opportunity to trade up to a newer model 25-30% cheaper than the market price.

Lens won't extend when switched on

Hi,
I would like to know what mode are you clicking these photos in.. because overexposure is due to either slow shutter speeds or large aperture. Try setting the camre mode according to the surrounding light conditions.. for example, no need of flash when you are clicking pictures in broad day light, instead of setting the camera on Auto mode, try using Portrait mode for short distance (5 to 6 meters away) objects etc..
Let me know if that fixes the issue.

And important .. Do not forget to rate the solution :D

Kodak Z700

Hi,

Tentative solution:
I had the identical problem. I went as far as disassembling the camera ... not recommended.

Instead of fussing with the lens cover, I pressed on the lens assembly (gently), the lens retracted and the lens cover closed.

My camera works now. It will be my last Kodak.

Good Luck,
Mike

I have the same problem. Removing the memory card and then starting up seemed to fix it; the camera would then start up ok even with the card in.

Camera error # E45

Camera error # E45 may be caused by the shutter/lens mechanism failure. This needs the cameara to be sent to Kodak if you are to use your warranty but seeing you may be far off from where you bought it here is my suggested solution-: 1. Put the Camera on the AC Adapter and switch it on. This may solve your problem if not... 2. Slightly smack or tap the side of the camera or lens several times with your shoe or boot while switching it on . This may shake off the dirt stuck between the shutter mechanism and release your camera to work again. Do not smack or hit it on a very hard surface. Please advise me if this worked for you. Thanks for using Fixya.com for your requirements.
