Rca executive phone seriers 25415 RE 3A

Attendant/answerer don't not work consistently.

The attendant will transfer to a extension and then the call is dropped before the answerer comes on to let the caller leave a message.

Yeah, I've wasted all morning messing with this. My personal outgoing message keeps reverting back to default. I just got off the phone with RCA and here's the fix for that part of the problem. Go into "Configure Out-Going Announcement" (page 23) and then select "personal," This finally made it stay there. The number I called for help is 1-800-511-3180, or 1-866-285-4651. Good luck!

As far as changing the # of rings, that may be your phone company. Feature 983 will get you in to change to number of rings. It goes as follows:
Feature 983
System coordinator mailbox # and password
OK
AA
Lines
Enter Line Number
OK
Table
Rings
CHNG
Enter the desired number of rings
If after changing the number of rings the Auto atendant does not pick up at all, You have to call your phone company and set up the second delay through them. We had the same problem here.

You have the wrong adapter probably. Most common types are single line splitters and will not work like you want. They only split line one and 2 gets blocked out as they only have 2 copper connector on the plug centered to get line 1 only. If you want to use an adapter you will need a 2 line splitter like this one:http://www.trianglecables.com/tellinsplitl.html
A simpler solution is to plug your fax into your phone. On top of your phone are multiple jacks labeled L1/L2, L2 only or L2/data. Plug your phone into the wall using the L1/L2 jack then plug your fax into the L2 jack and this will work fine and still allow you use of line 2 on your phone. If you don't want to hear the ring then set your fax machine to auto answer. Hope this helps you.

You have a selector code that is disabling transfer operations. Login with administrative account find selector code assignment (under Auto Attendants (3)) find a selector code 1 or 2 and see what it does. Change it to direct extension transfer . In a partner selector code 1 and 2 shouldnot be used.

Depends on the voicemail, but generally:

Call the receptionist

When the auto attendant answers, press * (or sometimes "**"), OR ask the operator to transfer to your line and press "*" during your message.

It will ask you your login information.

Dial your extension and password together as one number and press #

You can now operate the voice mail.

The norstar extension may be setup up for Call Fwd to voicemail, or call fwd/busy. Also, Custom Call Routing may be setup to send the caller directly to the mailbox.

OK, now you will need to log in and modify selector codes.

When you dial into vociemail, and it asks for the mailbox....

1234#
It wont prompt you, but enter "9"
then is lists out the selections, with 3 being AA, so...
press 3 AA
press 1 for day
press 6 to modify menu
press the selector code (1) it probably says that its a selector code transfer or something.....
listen for the propmts and make it a "Direct extension transfer)

if you have the same problems with pressing extensions in the 20's, modify selector code 2 also.

When done entering selector codes, press star(*) pound(#)

then press pound(#), and that will save the selector codes

hang up...As long as selector codes 1 and 2 say "Direct extension transfer" you should be good.

I was told by an AT&T rep that the auto attendant can forward calls to another 984 phone to leave messages for that person. Your original OGM (out going message) on the designated Auto Attendant phone should state greeting and the names and the extensions. The caller presses the buttons for the person they want to reach and their call is forwarded to that extension. That extension, if unattended, will have an OGM telling the calling who they have reached and to leave a message. This feature can only transfer calls to other 984 phones only.

Need more rings


You have to change the rings from the voice mail server. If you don't know your way around the server, its best to get a local NEC tech although it is fairly simple to navigate. Depends on your skill. Typical default password for the server is NEC

How Can I check voice mail remotely


Do you mean check your v/m for your extension from somewhere other than your office by calling in?
If so, it would depend on how calls are answered at your office. If someone answers, have them transfer you to the ext number for VM. If you have an auto-attendant, or a DID directed to your extension, call and wait 'til VM answers.
Assuming the default settings are in place, dial "9" + your ext number, then your security code if you have one.
