Usually 2WIRE modems are automatically configured to broadcast wireless. If your modem is not broadcasting it can be due to a few minor D.I.Y issue.

1. Access your gateway address E.g 192.168.1.254 in most cases
, access wireless settings, scroll down to see if the ENABLE SSID is checked. If it is not checked, check it and submit settings. Try searching for wireless again and it should appear in your wireless networks

2. Check your wireless channel if its in the default channel. By default it should be in channel 6. Too high channel will not broadbast wireless networks. E.G Channel 13 will not broadcast wireless. Even it does the wireless will not be strong enough.

Hope this may help and solve your problem

My q1000 Modem brodcasts a wifi signal throughout my house, but every now and then the wifi signal gets dropped. what is cousing this and how do i fix it

Few basics need to be taken care of. Electronic devices like fax machines, printers, halogen lamps, speakers or anything which runs on electricity needs to be atleast 2 feet away from your router. Make sure that there is a distance of 2 feet or more between your modem and your router.

My wireless adaptor does not work properly

These wireless dongles can take time to conect after pc starts some times they take up to 3 minutes to configure. What you could try doing is changing the brodcast type on the main modem and reconfiguring the dongle on the other pc to conect might work out faster for conection and better.

Make sure you have the laptop reading the same type of encryption that your router is brodcasting. Also make sure you are using proper network key. I know that some network keys are case sensative. Good Luck

Wireless Internet through 2Wire router not working

First of all change your router to WPA rather than WEP. WEP is easily cracked now and is not secure. That might be what your laptop is looking at.

Secondly, update the wireless drivers to the current version from the website.

Make sure your router is broadcasting on 'auto' (802.11a/b/g, and N if supported), It ay be broadcasting only on, say 11g and your laptop doesn't support it. Updating the wireless drivers may also fix this.

The TK280 portable is a trunking/conventional two way. It does not support digital communication. There is no upgrade available short of a new radio. By the way...new digital radios are very pricey so be prepared to spend some $$$. Good luck.
