1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button. (On the X83, press the Select button.)
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

Paper Jam

Hi Matt,
Here's how to:-
  • First turn the printer off and on.This is known to automatically clear paper jams by pushing the stuck paper out.
  • Remove all the papers from the feed trays.
  • Remove the cover from the housing of the printer to gain access into the inside of the printer.
  • Check for the jammed paper inside and gently pull it out.
  • Press on the flashing paper jam button to make the clearing easy.
  • If this doesn't clear the jam, unplug the printer from power and try removing the stuck papers firmly.
  • Plug the printer back and try printing now.
Check out these video tutorials for more on the same.
Hope this helps.Thanks!

I have several sheets of paper jammed in my printer and I can,t pull it out

Welcome to FixYa!

Don't try to pull out the jammed paper at the front panel of the printer. You might risk damaging your printer. Remove the jammed paper from the "Back Door" of the printer. The type of backdoor depends on what kind of HP printer you have. Below are 2 common backdoor of HP printers.
jas247_36.gif

1. Press the Power button to turn on the printer.
2. While the printer is still on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
3. Turn the printer so that the rear of it faces you.
4. Press in the tab on the left side of the rear door to release it. Then pull the door away from the printer to remove it.
5. Gently pull any jammed paper out of the rollers with your two hands.
6. Return back the back door. Gently push the door forward until it snaps into place.
7. Plug the power cord into the printer.
8. Turn the printer on again using the power button.

Note: Make sure to remove the jammed paper cautiously, any small pieces of paper left inside the printer might cause additional paper jam.

Some HP printers uses a latch to open the backdoor. Refer to the image below:

I hope that this will help you.

Canon Pixma iP 6600D printing problem.. went to print a scanned document .... paper began to feed in askew from autopaper feeder . Printing process stopped. the process was repeated a couple more times...

To fix the paper feed problem, Clean / rub each roller with a damp cloth with a dab of detergent.
Check for paper residue , especially near the paper empty flag,
Then reset the printer:
First power off the printer. Next, while holding STOP/RESET button, power on the printer.
While holding POWER button, release STOP/RESET button. Then push STOP/RESET button twice.
Wait about 20-30 second until the LED shows "0?. Then push STOP/RESET button four times.
Finally push POWER button twice. Last step is to turn off the printer by pressing the POWER button one last time.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Happy Holidays!

Thanks, Joe

Mesaage shows "Paper Jam" when I hit OK it pushes paper out but nothing prints. I pulled some paper from front to clear it and now I can not get it to print. Do I need a new one or is there a solution??

You can try following steps.

Press the Power button only once while the Printer is Powered ON, this will remove if there is any stuck paper.
Then
Unplug the power cord and press and hold the Power/ON button on the printer for 30 seconds and plug in the power cord.

If the issue still persists, perform the final reset

Please remove the power cable from the back of the printer.
Press and hold # and 6 while reconnecting the power cord to the product, and then release both buttons.

We have to press the keys on the printer. Release the buttons as soon as the power cable gets inserted to the printer.

If the issue remains there, contact HP for Upgrade

Paper jam message, but actually no paper jam

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
  3. Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
  4. Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
  5. If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
  6. If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
  7. If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
  8. Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
  9. If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
  10. see alternative if the problem is still not solved.

alternative :
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.
