Screen problems When I open my laptop and power it up the screen is white or sometimes a weird off brown color but if i open it to the fullest extent it will open the screen is fine and shows everything regularly. Can i fix this problem myself if the case is a loose connection or do i have to send it off to a specialist?

Only suggestion is if set was plugged in when you did what you did--unplug it and any box or receiver plugged in and wait a while--plug back and let the equipment try to reboot.

may be the problem with your vedio card setting or vedio card and sometimes it happend with your display screen also.

Loose LCD cable will cause this problem. Open up and reseat the cable.

Well if the motherboard is replaced, it is probably a problem with the laptop monitor. If this is the case, at this point, it's probably cheaper to buy a new laptop.

To determine if he video card is faulty, connect an external monitor to the laptop's external video port, then power up the external monitor and then the laptop. The video info should automaticall switch to the external monitor. If you see anormal Windows image on the monitor then the video card is OK and the fault is with the LCD screen, could be the video cable/connector. Try reseating the video cable/connector to the motherboard.
If the video card is faulty and because it is part of the motherboard it is extremely dificult to repair, usually a replacement motherboard is required. This may not be a cost effective solution depending the age of the laptop. You could remove the hard drive from this laptop and insert it into an USB hard drive adapter case and use it as an external USB drive.

Are you running on battery or AC? Try using the power cord, remove the battery and see if it continues. I have seen a battery that is on its last legs do some weird things to a computer. Also, check your power management setting. Control panel, power, and set the computer to "always on" just to see if it could be a power management setting. If none of this works, i would back up all your files, and try to reload win xp from scratch.

hi..right click on desktop,choose properties,select
settings tab and then choose highest bit in color quality.
see if it does make any difference,sometimes having low
or medium bit color quality can do such thing.

Obviously, a driver problem, go to your manufacturers website and look for the video drivers for your laptop.
