Hi,

To resolve this problem, establish that the player is charging correctly as follows:

  1. Connect the player to a USB port on the back of a desktop PC, to a powered hub, or to a power adapter (separately available).
  2. Check the display for the charging icon my creative zen won't charge or turn on - battery_ac_charge_1.jpg.
    • As the display times out after a few seconds, press any button on the player to reactivate the display.
    • If the battery is fully depleted, the charging icon may not be displayed.Cupthe player in your hands to check that the blue power LED behindthePlay/Pause and Options buttons is glowing on and off repeatedly. This indicates that the player is successfully charging. After 1 hour of charging, power on the unit to activate the display. The charging icon should be displayed.
  3. Allow the player to charge for at least 6 hours. During this time, if charging from a USB port, please ensure your PC does not enter a power conservation mode (Standby, Sleep, or Hibernate) as this will interrupt charging.
Ifthe player does not indicate a charge, or will not power on afteratleast 6 hours of charging, please contact Customer Support.

Don't buy this unit. The power system is prone to being blown out when disconnecting from USB. I've blown out two. I'm on my third. BAD DESIGN. AVOID IT!

How to charge my creative zen mp3 player

Just connect your Zen onto your PC (NOT LAP TOP) on a USB.
If does not start charging (you´ll see arrow and pause/ play buttons flashing slowly) then you need to RESET your ZEN.
How to reset: You´ll find a tiny little hole by on/off button on the side. With ZEN connected to the PC USB or onto wall charger try turning ZEN on, it doesen´t matter if it turns on or not. Then insert a sowing pin or office paper clip end in this reset hole for a few seconds and release. Give it a couple of seconds and see the lights go off onto charging mode. LEAVE IT CHARGING for 24 hours. Make sure your PC will NOT turn itself on safe mode or hibernates in this period, it has to be ON for charging, at all times.
This is it.

Before coneccting player to the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. It worked for mine ! GOOD LUCK
