I never use the disks, try the following:-

1. Turn off both the linksys and your modem
2. Turn on your and wait for the usual lights to turn solid
3. Turn on the Linksys and wait 30 secs
4. Press the button on the front to the left. It does not look like a button but flashes while it is finding an ip address
5. now connect with an Ethernet Network Cable and make sure the internet is working
6. Next Setup the Wireless Encryption, if you don't know how to do this, post and I will help
7. Disconnect the cable and Connect Wirelessly

If you have limited connectivity then next try this: http://www.howtofixanything.co.uk/howto-269.html

Wht should i do to conenct to internet

1. Uninstall or disable all Internet-sharing applications, proxy software and security software such as anti-virus programs or firewalls. Although every program is different, if you choose to uninstall one, you can typically do so by clicking "Start," "Control Panel" and "Add/Remove Software" and then selecting the software you wish to remove. Because Homeportal 1000 comes with its own versions of these programs, this step is essential to avoid conflicts.

2. Connect Homeportal's AC power adapter to the back of your router, and then plug it into a power outlet. The green power light should come on.

3. Connect the router to your
computer. If you're using Ethernet, connect the Ethernet cable to both the router and the Ethernet jack on the back of your computer. If you plan to use USB, follow the same procedure using the USB cable and ports, instead. For a wireless connection, ensure that your wireless card is correctly installed on your PC.

4. Connect the phone cable to the back of your router and then plug it into a phone jack. This will allow the Homeportal 1000 to receive DSL signals from the phone company.

5. Place the Homeportal 1000 installation CD into your CD drive and follow the on-screen instructions to install the necessary software and until finish installation.

I just purchased the D-Link wireless router. Connected everything ran the CD and I'm not connected for some reason? I may have connected something wrong, but I was following all the instructions...my error...

first of all for using a router you need not install any cd...

try connecting your laptop to any one of the wired (lan) ports of router using an ethernet cable and check whether you are able to access or not...

if you are able to access then search for the wireless networks in range...

you will see linksys network... try connecting to it and access wireless internet...

if you are not able to access internet even through ethernet cable then you need to configure your router first...

to get an idea of how to configure your router have a look at this link...

I have a linksys wireless router and I connected to router but when I try to go to a web site I get the error not connected to the internet

That only means your router is not properly setup.
If you still have the cd that came with the product , just ran the cd and follow the instructions. If you dont have a Cd , you can setup the router manually by logging into the router web interface.
The address of the router is http://192.168.1.1 No username and password is admin. ( this is the default)
Once you get inside the router page, just setup the unit based from your ISP settings.
If you want a walk thru on this step, it would be good to call linksys techsupport at 1800linksys.

Cheers,
KJ

Wireless g router trouble no conectivity

You have to enable DHCP in your wi fi router.
For that connect your wi fi router to youe computer with ethernet cable.
Then access it with following link
http://192.168.1.1
or
http://192.168.0.1
type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or blank or "password"
then Enable DHCP.
Then save settings and exit router.
Also check your wi fi network adapter property Check TCP /IP settings enable ip get automatically.
Then it works fine.
Let me know if you need more assistance.
Thanks.

Linksys wireless connection to xbox 360

Goto your computer and click on start, the goto run, then type in ipconfig at the command prompt.

Write down the GATEWAY ip address as this is the Linksys router ip.

Now open up Internet explorer and type in the GATEWAY ip that you just wrote down.

You will be prompted with a username and pw screen/box. Factory default username is admin with pw is just blank(not the word blank but just nothing entered as the pw), or admin as the pw.

If you're lucky you should be able to manually configure the router without the config cd. If not, I have had this issue before and you will have to contact linksys for a replcement CD as some routers do require install cd since manual setup just doesn't work for some reason.

No router Detected

Hello, I'm assuming that the dsl modem is connected to the Wireless router and the computer is connected to the router. Bring up a browser and enter 192.168.1.1 into the address window. This will bring up a prompt for user name and password. In username enter {admin} and if needed for password also. This will then let you into the router settings. Look for "Quick setup". Follow directions and see if that helps. If not let me know what it does and we'll go from there. Thanks
