Question about Whirlpool 25.6 cu. ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with In-Door-Ice Dispensing System

Hi I on 1-6-09 submitted a request as follows: Problem 08275MC I am having a problem with a Whirlpool Referigator Side by Side M/N - ED25Q FXHW00 , S/N- SK0143090. The problem goes something like this. The refrigerator and freezer will work properly for several days in a row. Then it will be found not running and the ice in the freezer starting to melt. The problem can seemingly be corrected by turning the thermostat (cold control) to the off position. And then returning it to its normal setting. At this time the refrigerator will kick on and start running and will once again work properly until the next time it is found off and ice melting in the freezer. This same scenario has been going on for many weeks now and the problem does not seem to get any better or any worse. At first thought it would appear the that the cold control is defective, however, if that is the case. Why will it work for several days in a row as it should, and then shut off and not restart? Is this a constant cut in type thermostat and could this have anything to do with the problem? Can you propose a possible solution or solutions with an explanation as to what is occurring here. I submitted this as a paid request for supposedly an expert response in 1-2 business days. To date all I have recieved is my credit card has been charged but have recieved no response back to my e-mail address or contact from FixYa in any other way.Can anyone help me with this problem or refund my money??

    I appreciate Jason's attempted help, however most of what he said flew right over my head but I did understand "most likely the thermostat"

    Thanks but disappointed for the $10.00 fee as I already felt that most likely it was a thermostat problem and was hoping for an explination and definate diagonoses. I can be a trial and error parts changer for free.

Well   i cant refund you but i will do my best to help you.   it seems that you have two problems.   everybody knows metal shrinks when it gets cold.  i see that as part of your problem.   something in the control panel is getting cold and shrinking off of its mark.  most likely the thermostat.  which leads me to your second problem.  have the thermostat looked at.  if i was close   i would look at it personally.   i do apologize for the charges to your credit card.  i hope that your future Fixya.com experiences are much better

Now if interested you can request a Whirlpool Ice Troubleshooting Service Manual by filling out the capsha=> HERE Reason I don't place the manual's here because Whirlpool ask me not to, but I will be glad to send you one. you can buy a little pressure pump similar to what r.v.'s use but 110 volt a.c. instead of 12 volt d.c. for about 80 bucks.

Could not locate your model number. However, Check fill tube for icemaker inside the freezer. Iced solid? replace water valve. No ice in fill tube? Get correct model number and resubmit your request.

No power


Fridge is 60% nit working.The freezer is -20%.Circuteboard was replaced and defrost controler.Referigator does not work.Service technition has tried three times to repair.Referigator is 14months old.

Frost building up inside freezer.


Hi: Make sure your vents are not blocked by too much product in the freezer. When you changed the heater did you take a hair dryer to the back to make sure the initial blockage of frost and ice was removed as that will still block the air flow to the referigator, and cause frost to build? Also if the frost isn't in the back of the freezer but on the food it means there is a bad door seal. Usually the frost will look like snow flakes. The timers are on a circuit board now. And expensive. Ge makes an excellent refrigerator, but the parts are high in price. I hoped this helped. Jeff

HI.YOU MIGHT WANT TO CHECK IF THE FAN IS WORKING WELL OR IF THE UNIT IS NOT OVER FREEZING WHICH CAN E A CAUSE OF THE FRIDGE NOT COOLING PROPERLY.FEEL FREE TO REQUEST MORE ADVICE IF NEEDED
