Question about IBM ThinkPad T20 2647 Notebook

1 Answer

Computer wont power on.

The laptop will not turn on as the "Z" and hdd light just flashes every time i press the power button. I changed the motherboard and all came back to normal but im wondering if there is a circuit that commonly fails on the motherboard that i can replace and get my old motherboard working again.

if you,ve changed the motherboard, i,d suggest the problem lies with a faulty stick of ram. or 1 of the memory slots are faulty.

failing this, try a different CPU.

This rating is Disgusting, the rating is not in my opinion Inappropriate.

You asked questions, and got answers in return.

If the board does,nt boot. Theres a motherboard problem. Short/ground Fault. the CPU is poorly or incorrectly inserted.

Or even the wrong CPU. ( Wrong Speed/cache et,c.

The Ram is faulty, Or of the wrong Type/Speed.

    Unsucessfully flashed Bios.

**** Please do not rate poorly, until Your Solution is Answered**** Most fixya experts work on a voluntary Basis And Free Of Charge.

    (1)Turn off the computer.
(2)Remove all the external peripherals like AC Adaptor, flash drives, battery, etc.
(3)Press and hold the power button for 30 sec which releases the static on the computer (if any)
(4)Put back the battery and plug in the AC Adaptor.
(5)Let the computer charge for some time.

Stuck sleep mode

The solution to no post on a computer is to remove everything that you can, take out the hdd, the ram, and optical disk and see if it boots. If it does, put the RAM back, then try again, if it does, put the hdd back and try again. It is a process of elimination. If everything is removed and it wont boot, it may be the motherboard. I have also seen bad batteries do this. There is a chip inside the battery that wont let the machine boot when the life of the battery is expired.

Samsung r540 wont boot

lets try something...take the computer and unplug it ..then remove the battery...with the battery set aside plug the wall plug back in and plug that into the wall outlet....then hold down the power button for about 2-4 seconds and let me know if it turns on or if there is any changes
then try a different power cable and if that doesn't work then the problem is with your can attempt to reflow the board by taking it all apart...make sure you remove everything that can be heat damaged...cpu ect.....then take aluminum foil and make 3inch soft balls out of it to suspend the motherboard so that it doesn't touch the cookie sheet pan....then bake at 400 for 10 mins...and after that if it still doesn't work then you need to replace the motherboard

Lenovo laptop is not able to start since it tells that no bootable connections - insert bootable and press any key

Follow these steps below.

1. Turn the computer on.
2. Keep tapping F12 after pressing the power button.
3. Advance Boot Menu will come up.
4. Using the arrow keys, select HDD as the device to boot from.
5. Press Enter.
6. If the computer boots up normally, we fixed the issue.

If not, it means that the computer no longer detects the HDD. It needs to be reseated and after reseating the HDD it should boot up normally. If still the computer cannot boot, then, replace the HDD as it already has gone bad.

Screen wont turn on

remove the battery and the power from the laptop.....then press and hold down the power button for 20 seconds ...... attach the AC power only and turn on the laptop this should turn on the system.
This drains the capacitors on the system (safety feature of laptops ... quite common)

If this does not work remove the Ram and reseat it ... something has either come loose or the backlight on the LCD has gone bad.

Dell latitude D600 problem

The flashing caps lock is an indication of a failed POWER on Self-Test (POST)

Remove the HDD, Battery, AC adapter, RAM and Modem

Press and hold power button for 15 seconds

Connect AC, see if you get any beep codes. If you do, power off, disconnect power, insert RAM, connect AC and reboot. If system boots, power off and add hard drive. If it doesn't, replace the motherboard.

If the system boots with RAM, but fails to boot with HDD, replace HDD 1st.
