Sure It depends upon which sound system(hardware) you have installed in you system. I wil tell you how the two speaker type works. Plug the speakers into the transformer that you have connected into the house electric. Plug one speaker into the other. plug the left over Jack into the green outlet on the back of the computer either from the mother board or the sound card. If you have not(somecomputers do not come with sound) these round colored jacks in the bvack of yuo computer you wil have to purchase a PCI sound card ,(like soundblaster) that is available at most discount stores like Wall and K mart. If you have a more complicated sound speaker system like 5.1 or 7.1 sound , please write back.

The way computer speakers are hooked up, is you take your 1/4" main jack from the power speaker, and plug it in to your computer's adio out jack. Then you have to hook up the other speaker's 1/4" plug to a jack in the back of the power speaker (by power speaker, I mean the speaker that has the volume adjustment and on/off switch). Plug the power speaker's power supply in to the wall outlet, turn it on, adj the volume, and you should be in business. If the other speaker isn't working, it might have a pinched speaker wire or another problem may exist, but usually it's either a pinched wire or incorrect hookup.
Oh, one more thing to check, make sure you hook the other speaker to the right jack on the power speaker. There are two jacks on the power speaker, and one is for the left or right speaker only. Good luck, and hope this helps.

Make sure the speakers are hooked up properly and also that the sound card drivers are installed, you can verify this by going into the device manager. The main speaker wire has to be hooked up to the output of the computer sound card.

If the sound card drivers are installed and the speakers are hooked up properly and your still not getting sound, try the speakers on another computer that you know has sound. If the speakers work then its a sound card driver issue on the original computer. If the speakers don't work on another computer then you know the speakers are bad.

I don't really know a whole lot about computers but we have a acer computer and have never had any sound from it, there are no speaker's with it or in it. So a friend of mine gave me a pair of HK195...

Most external speakers require a power source (electrical outlet) and have a wire that connect the two speakers together. There will be a cord with a jack on the end that is input into the audio outlet on the PC (usually an outlet in the back of the machine but some have outlets in the front as well). Once installed, the PC should recognize the new hardware and attempt to install it on it's own.

Subs dont work

To test speakers.A. Unplug speaker wires.
B. connect a 9volt battery to each speaker, touching one wire to the negative and the other to the positive breifly. The speaker should extend outward or inward, simulating the pumping of the cone. Depending on the polarity of the DC voltage hooked to the battery.
That's why it is important to wire the speakers correctly. Pos to Pos Neg to Neg.
You should know if the speakers or wired in series or parallele.
Google speaker wiring. Very informative.
