The convergence amplifiers are bad or need to be resoldered.

You can't restore them...you have to resolder them. Have you ever done any soldering? If not, I would call a certified technician to do the work. Total repair costs should be under $300.00 no matter what is needed to be done.

I found a phone number for Hitachi and was told that's the way these TVs work. The problem isn't the TV but the broadcast format and their's no way to adjust the height of the picture on the plasma TV sets. I told them it's something they should consider. My $300 plasma montor can do it so why can't a $5000 TV? He laughed.

Problem with wacthind dvd in full screen and black dot on screen

Not sure I understand the half of the tv and half of the dvd player. Are you saying about mid way of your set is cut off and like the bottom half you have a picture and the top no picture? I can explain the dot, first you can open back of set and maybe take off hole back bezel. Get where you can put your head down in front of C R T's (tubes) and look down in them and see if you see the same thing in one or all three of the tubes. If so this explain the dot. The half problem sounds like vertical is missing. Not sure yet! Need feed back
