Question about Televison & Video

3 Answers

LG LCD 26" TV, Picture unsteady (shakes horizontallly) then intermittantly displays a seriews of verticle lines, 1" wide about 10 accross the screen. Have to power down and power up TV to get rid of the lines. Problem seems to be heat sensitive. more stable when cold. The repair shops we have contacted told us the TV has had it, LCD failed (less than 5 years old). I would agree if this appeared to be a problem with the LCD itself such as a permanent mark or permanent lines or slow refreshing but to me it looks more like a component or board failure??? Scart leads have been replaced and we have a new SKY box, problem seems to be definately in TV. Have you come accross this problem before and/or suggest someone who can give a quote to fix it. I don't want to pay out £400+ for another one if it is only £100 - £200 component + labour fix. Thanks for any assistance you can provide, Steve

Steve I rake it your not from the usa
This sounds very much likr some of the capaciters on the main circut board are going out ( the reason the picture is better when cold!) when heated up bad capaciters become erratic(the shaking picture!) the whole board will need replaced because no one these days will take the time out to fix a circut board so they replace the whole thing! The estamated cost is going to be around $350.00 - $500.00 US dollors! You may just want to replace
Please tate my response! thank You!

If the problem is sensitive to vibration, then that is a bad ribbon cable.

If the problem is related to heat, or it is random, than it is a bad video processor on the LCD controller board, that is the main board on your TV.

The parts must be tested and eventually replaced.

Here you can buy the replacement parts: RCA TV Parts

Syntax olivia 26" lcd tv, getting very thin horizontal lines 2" from top of screen. It started with 1, now there are three lines. What's up?

One of two things. the digital board, or the display is going bad. if the display is the problem it probably is not worth repair. The digital board my not cure the problem an is expensive. If the lines are different colors it my well be the display.
