Question about Onkyo DX-C340 CD Player

CD player ticking??

Hi there,
I have just bought a TEAC DRH-300DAB and when I play a CD a consistent light ticking sound appears after about 5 seconds, and then doesn't stop. It is not very noisy, and is not through the speakers - it is very much the CD unit. The noise is not replicated with a DVD playing!
Please help as it's driving us mad!
Thanks,
Charlie

My teac 5 cd player wont play any cd's there has been suggestion that the laser reader is not working so how do I fix this?

It is a job for a Technician and there are no user serviceable parts inside a unit like this- people usually wreck the units as they are delicate.
The Laser pickup does not often times go bad that easily and that is just a persons way of sounding like they know what they are talking about but without substantial proof I do not just take that as fact. Many many other things can cause a malfunction other than the laser- it can be a nad spindle motor, platter distance can be wrong and can even be dust on he lense. I have working Sony decks here from 1987- these are the original pickups- same kind you have I bet.

My cd player stops playing part way through a track it could be on the first cd or up to the third cd.Any help with this problem would be appreciated. Mal

Possible fault in hte mechanism or the drive . Remove panel and allow the set to operate with good cooling on the main board. If there is no issue then close and check. If the fault occurs, confirm if the issue is relative to heat build up, check for visible fault in sections, touch for heating components. If you have a freezing spray use it to confirm. Clean up the optical , the drives and sensors for detection of the 5 cd trays.
If fault is consistent check the observation prior to the stop. does it stop on reading .. if so the mainboard may be running off in heat.
If the fault occurs inloading then it might be insufficient loading with possible errrors to the mP.
check this out carefully and with patience.

After 16 months our PD-D2610 CD changer has started misbehaving. Some of the 5 positions work fine but positions 1 & 4 almost never work.

I read enough comments from unhappy TEAC owners with similar problems to learn that the drive motor is to blame and that repair sounds like sending good money after bad. I'm going to buy a Sony changer.

Display doesn't work on TEAC PD H300mkIII

I had the same issue today. I found that opening the unit you can see that there is a white ribbon cable connecting the head unit to the main board. removing this cable and re-inserting it the connector fixed the problem. The display now works again...hope this helps

Hi

I think that we can get at least one of them going again :)
I suggest
  1. take the lids off both of them.
  2. load up some Cd's and close the drawer and watch what happens.
  3. does the disc begin to spin, is not, do you hear any noise as it tries to read each disc.
  4. can you kick start the CD when it first loads(clockwise direction)
  5. if not of these things happen, can you see if the transport loads the cd up off the tray.
While you are in there, with the front drawer open you should be able to see the laser lens. Use a cotton bud moistened with windex(glass cleaner) gently clean the lens in a circular motion and then also polish it with a dry one to be sure you have left no smears on the lens. Then.... try the unit again and see if the CD reads.
If you don't have any luck this far, please post back to me and we can try some other things. All this and you give me a FixYa... YAY :)

regards
robotek
