Question about Digital Cameras

1 Answer

I work at an optometrist office and we take retinal photos. We have a cannon rebel xp and as soon as we take the photos it should pop up on the pc right away. We can't figure this out, the camera and the pc are connected and can't think of any other way to fix it. Please help!

Hi drjlhilltucs,

In order to control the camera via the computer you must install the EOS Utility Software for the Rebel. This is available on their website: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=314&modelid=9430

Good Luck,

Jordan

Make sure that the software for your camera is first installed on your computer. If this doesn't workyou can always open up the camera's folder on your computer and open the images from there. How do you take picutres of the retina with this camera? How clear do the images turn out when being focused on an object that small?

Check for bent or broken CF pins. This model also has a screw that always comes loose and may have shorted out part of the main circuit. Neither of these problems are consumer repairable, and I would suggest you seek a local repair shop.

I have a cannon rebel xt and when the flash pops it it will no longer take a photo but works fine outside if flash is not needed?? Help

Does the little flash lightening bolt light up in the viewfinder to let you know the flash is fully charged? If it does, but when you push release it goes out and then comes on again in a few seconds that is the sign of a bad flash board.

Does the flash go all the way up?

Is the switch that is under the flash come all the way up (not stuck down)?

Hey Lackster,
Error 5 is a problem with the flash. Long story short it thinks there is an external flash attached even though the mechanical pop-up still works. It is repairable.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Thank you.

Is it trying to pop the flash and making noise, or is there no noise at all?
If it's audibly trying and it won't pop up, it's stuck and something is blocking it. May need to send it in.
If there is no sound, then something is making it think that there's an external flash attached. Check out this photo here:

New Camera, no picture on screen

This is normal for this camera. Think about it. The CMOS chip can't see through the mirror. After the shot is taken the electronic shutter exposes the CMOS chip and makes an image just like exposing film on a film type camera. Once you get used to it you may like it better. In outdoor or bright light situations it's difficult to view the LCD screen to frame the shot anyway.

I lost my disc for my cannon eos 300D digital rebel. I have a new computer and no disc to install my camera. Can you help me? Gayla Essig

There are plenty of FREE photo editors available on the Internet. If you have a USB cable, you can connect your PC and camera -- and copy pictures from the memory card to your hard drive. Let me know if you need more detailed instructions.
BTW, two pretty good FREE photo editors are:
  1. GIMP
  2. Picasa (by Google)
I hope this helps. If it does, please be sure to rate the solution. Regards, Char1ieJ
