Having to unplug suggests a issue where the set is getting confused, if using any kind of box for signal or have a receiver in line remove power from all and after several minutes plug back.

SOURCE: VIZIO TV Black screen. Cannot turn off TV without unplugging.

I had a similar problem after having a Vizio for 2 and a half years. I left the room for a minute, i came back and the screen went black. I didnt hear an arcing sound though. There was still power to the unit and you could see that the back light was working, just no picture, no sound, and you couldn't use any of the buttons. The only way to turn it off was to unplug it. It would then start up, with the Vizio logo going from orange to white, and then do the same thing all over, no pic or sound. I would check the ceramic fuse first on the board that gets power from the plug.

HOW I FIXED MINE: I ordered a new "main PCB" from tigerdirectparts.com (you can also use searspartsdirect.com). This is the circuit board with all of the inputs on it (hdmi, cable, etc.) I opened it up, disconnected the old one, put in a new one and now it works fine.I used both serial numbers on the board to search for it online. It cost me $144 to do it, but that's better than $450 for a new TV. My tv is the vx32l hdtv10a. I hope that helps.

SOURCE: 47" Vizio Flat screen HD LCD freezes up and remote will not work.

could it be Ch 9's digital signal is not broadcasting right? what is your refresh rate on your tv? 60 or 120hz? if its 120hz, then its more then likely the digital broadcast, if its 60hz I think its your tv can't keep up with their signal that may be at 120hz. Make since??

Sylvania 32 inch LC320ssx

It seems that the set itself changes inputs. Place it remote control away from the vicinity of the tV. and check. If it does the same, do a hard reset next. To make it a hard reset, unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and replug it back after 10 minutes or so. If these do not help you, be sure that the main system control memory IC to it is faulty and should be replaced.

Power button only one that won't turn power on

Have the remote tested either with a tester that most shops have or in a dark room with a digital camera the display will faintly flash when remote pointed at it and buttons pressed.

Also if button does not work (power) unplug the set for a while to see if it will reset. If the tester shows same problem--no working for power or have to press ******* buttons 99% chance something got spilled onto remote and got inside

I will program the remote the correct way, but still it won't program. When I'm done typing in the code for my ESA tv, I'll press the power twice and it'll turn off. Then I'll try...

Hello
Codes for ESA TV with RCA RCR312w are:
10812, 10171, 11963

1* Manually turn on the component you want the remote to

control.

2* Locate the enclosed Code Lists. Find the list for the

component you wish to program. Find your component's

brand. You will see a listing of four-digit codes for each

brand. If your brand isn't listed, use one of the Code Search
methods to program the remote control.

3* Press and hold the component key (TV,

VCR•DVD, SAT•CBL) you wish to

program. The illuminated ON•OFF key

turns on and remains on. If you release

the component key at any time during the Direct Code

Entry procedure, the illuminated ON•OFF key blinks four
times, and the process is exited.

4* While holding down the component key, consult the

Code Lists for the four-digit code that corresponds to your

component's brand and use the number keys (0-9) on the

keypad to enter it. While you are pressing the numbers, the
illuminated ON•OFF key turns off.

5* After the fourth number is entered, the illuminated ON•OFF

key turns on. At this time, release the component key. If the

illuminated ON•OFF key turns off, you have entered a valid

code and have followed the correct procedure for Direct
Code Entry

If you enter a code number that is not in the Code Lists or

you do not follow all of the steps for Direct Code Entry,

the illuminated ON•OFF key blinks four times when the

component key is released. This is an indication that a

programming error has occurred. In that case, repeat the

Direct Code Entry process from step 3.

Tip: Throughout the programming of each key, be sure to keep the

remote pointed at the IR sensor of the component you are currently
programming the remote to control.

6* To confirm that the component key is programmed with

the correct code for maximum functionality, test the

component. Attempt to control a variety of the component's

functions with the remote. If some of the features of your

components do not work, try programming the remote with

a different code in the list until you find the code that allows

the remote to control the majority of your component's

functions. Different codes can provide different levels of
functionality

My remote will not turn the tv on it work for about a week. I have replaced the batteries numerous times with no help

Can another remote turn on and off the TV? Do the buttons on the TV itself work (assuming a front panel lock isn't engaged)? Is this the original remote for the TV or a universal remote?

The possibilities: 1) The remote has failed. If you have a digital camera, take a picture of the IR side of the remote when someone presses the buttons. When you review the picture, you should see a bright spot in the picture. This indicates the remote is at least sending a signal. Sometimes the buttons will fail to make contact with the circuitry of the remote (due to wear). Other times the IR transmitter fails (the suspect if there is no light in the pictures from multiple button presses of the less used buttons). It's cheaper to replace the remote than it is to repair it.
2) The remote has lost the code for the TV. If you have a universal remote, try reprogramming it. (Cable or Satellite controllers count in this group).
3) The IR receiver on the TV has failed (if the buttons on the TV work) or the entire board has failed. You can get replacements for these at some sites. Try shopjimmy.com (minimally used parts) or partstore.com. You will need to open the TV and get the part number for your individual model for best results.
4) The TV won't turn on due to power supply problems.

If you need a replacement remote, a universal remote should work but the low end ones may not access all of the features of the original. Check for buttons that match features like Menu and Source (Input) if your TV doesn't have equivalent buttons on the TV itself. The remotes that are programmed via a USB connection with a computer are the easiest universal remotes to set up. If you want the original remote (or a close substitute that will perform all of the original features), first check if a parts store exists for your TV manufacturer (Samsung for example). Next try remotes.com and search for the TV model (leave out the manufacturer).

I hope this helps.
