I would say from what you have described your problem is a bad thermostat heat sensor (you may have to replace the whole thermostat on this model!) This is a very common problem for this unit!

I have a Masport free-standing Vienna gas heater. Am able to light the pilot, but can't turn on heater. It is linked to an external thermostat. Would this stop the heater being turned on. C

If your external thermostat is set lower than the temperature in your house the heater will not come on. Make sure your thermostat is set higher than the room temperature and the heater should work. You can do this as an experiment just to try the heater for starting up. Then set it to the temperature you want for comfort. Do not disconnect the thermostat unless it is broken. Your thermostat maintanes the comfortable heat in your house.

Dyson hot and cold

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

It sounds like your heater is shutting off because the ambient temperature is higher than or equal to the target temperature you've chosen (shown on the LED display on the front of the machine):
The heater's intelligent thermostat is engineered to turn the machine on only when needed when the ambient room temperature drops below the target temperature. Display works but no heat

Keep in mind that this unit will take a while to heat up. I have the same unit and it can take up to an hour to get really hot. Once up to temperature, you should hear the thermostat cycle on and off. To test it, set the thermostat to a low setting and leave the unit for an hour. It should be warm. If it is not, then the problem is after the thermostat such as a broken heating element wire. If so, it is probably not worth fixing.

Can't increase the heat on the thermostat

Instructions1 On nearly every Honeywell thermostat, the heat setting can be increased by simply pressing the HEAT option or AUTO and using the arrow keys to adjust the setting higher or lower until the desired temperature is reached.
2 To set an automatic heating schedule for Wake, Leave, Return and Sleep, press the SCHEDULE button, then EDIT.
3 Select the current day and use arrows to select the time and temperature for Wake. For example, if you typically awake for work at 6:00 a.m. and want the heat to come on, use that as your Wake time and adjust the temperature to suit.
4 Select the day and use arrows to select the time and temperature for Leave. Since you will be leaving the home empty for several hours, this setting will allow the thermostat to lower the heat until your arrival back home.
5 Select the day and use arrows to select the time and temperature for Return. This is the time and temperature that you will choose for returning home from work and may want the heat on to warm the house for your arrival.
6 Select the day and use arrows to select the time and temperature for Sleep. Set the time you normally go to bed. The thermostat will automatically adjust itself to your selected temperature at that time.
Thanks

Do rinnai heaters run efficiently if turned up and down often?

Maintaining the lowest acceptable setting and leaving it at that temperature is the most economical way to run the unit. If the space is going to be unoccupied for an extended time (several hours), lower temperatures are okay. This minimizes the need to burst the heat to warm the space quicker. As I understand your unit, it minimizes electrical & gas consumption by basing the need on the temperature difference of actual space temperature and setpoint. The larger the gap, the more power and gas is consumed.
In summary, when the space is occupied, maintain a consistent temperature setting. When the space is unoccupied, maintain a lower setpoint.

Hope this helps. Good Luck. :-)

Need to wire a honeywell RTH7400D thermostat to 3 wire hot water

Just mark the old wires on the old thermnostat...R , W etc...and put them on the same terminals on the new 1.....also there should be some adjustment ire : switch on the back or under the cover to adjust for Hot water heating or electric heat...either is the setting you should have it on....also you shouldn't setback the thermostat at night or when away very much....2 degrees is fine , as the boiler will run along time to raise the temperature in the morning and may not get there by the set time

Frequent cycle times on my home furnace

There are a few things that can cause this problem. The most common is the hole behind the thermostat for the wiring was not covered up when the thermostat was installed. The thermostat will sense the air in the wall space or the basement if it is open to the back of the wall supporting the thermostat. Turn off the power to the air conditioner if attached and the furnace, remove the thermostat from the wall and seal up the wiring hole with duct tape. Insure the thermostat is mounted level when reinstalled. The thermostat should be mounted to sense the return air to the furnace, if the stair well leads upstairs, warm air rises, so keep the upstairs close to the same temperature as down stairs or move the thermostat and install a door to block air movement to the upstairs. There is a heat anticipator on the thermostat, the setting for it is in the installation manuel. For most gas furnaces it is .8. It is very easy to short out the thermostat when making this adjustment, so always have the power off.

Thermostate temperature setting wrong

Are you saying that the temperature over-shoots it's setting by 5 degrees? If so and if the thermostat has an inticipator device in it you can adjust it. After removing the cover on the thermostat, look for a little brass triangle on the lower right hand side. There will be a scale with numbers on it and they are very hard to see. This device heats up prior to shutting off the thermostat so it will not over-shoot by more than a few degrees. Move the brass triangle either up or down and let the heater cycle a few times. If the temperature swing gets worse, go the other way next time.

If the thermostat is not heat inticipated, there will be a small "Dip" switch where you can adjust to a specific degree of under-shoot.

Visit the Honeywell website and you can pull up the installation/owners manual for your model. www.honeywell.com
