Question about Panasonic CT-32SF36 32" TV

1 Answer

Panasonic CT-32SF36 isn't getting video from A/V receiver

The tv is a Panasonic CT-32SF36.

The a/v receiver is a Yamaha RX-V663.

The a/v receiver is connected to the cable box via an HDMI cable.

The tv is connected to the receiver's monitor jack via an S-VIDEO cable.

The sound is great. All I get on the screen is snow.

I've tried all the video source settings in the tv's setup.

Any suggestions?

TIA,

Al

That's what I found out last night while searching Yamaha's FAQ.

Your reply is exactly what Yamaha said, however I think option 1 in your reply is the ideal solution. Alas, my wife and checkbook strongly disagree.

    Thanks,

    Al

Hello, I hope this message can help you, After reviewing the Panasonic TV info, and the Yamaha reciever info., I have found on page 19 of your owners manual for the Yamaha reciecver that you can connect the the cable box HDMI cable to the reciever, but the reciever needs to connect to the T.V. HDMI.
I see your T.V. has S-video in and your reciever has S-video out, what about your cable box if it has S-video than I would connect all your device together through the S-video jacks.
A further note is you can't down grade the signal from the cable box through the reciever to the T.V., so even though the technology is there on your cable box, it's not there on the T.V.. On that note there is 2 options 1) buy a new T.V. with HDMI inputs. 2) connect the system together using S-video or component cables (RCA). It will give you almost the same quailty if you use good cables. I hope this will help you and I look forward to helping you in the future.

Can the Yamaha RX-V663 (7.1) be upgraded to handle 3-D video input?

Long story short... No. Use your 663 for digital audio, Run video direct to TV for BLURAY & or Cable for 3d content. You can still switch all other video sources thru the receiver. Not cost effective. cost more to do it than you paid for it. Hope this helps

This usually means your receiver is not passing the HDCP copyright protection correctly. Try using component cables instead, if your receiver supports it.

a panasonic tv will shut down after a short time with no video input. it sounds like the setup menu in the receiver has defaulted and needs to be setup again to coordinate the audio and video signals. ive seen many yamaha menus default. dont let geeks in your house.

Audio but no video from Sony Blu-Ray w/ HDMI hookup to RX-V663

Okay...my first contribution to any forum but I have the same problem (Yamaha RX-V663 and Samsung Blu Ray) and found the solution. The problem is you probably have your HDMI cables from your DVD player and reciever connected to a DVI input on your TV. The DVI may have problems communicating--not HDCP compliant. My system was working great then I hit a button on my remote...just playing around. I think it was the pure audio and I turned off the receiver. After that, the audio worked but there was no video. After many frustrating hours, the fix was to unplug the HDMI and DVI cable then turn the power off, cycle the power again, and plug the HDMI and DVI cables back in (the DVI was the last cable plugged in, not sure if that matters). By unplugging everthing you've reset the communication between the HDMI components and the DVI TV.

See page 18 of the yamaha owners manual, second to last note on bottom right of the page. It says there may be a problem...

I also noticed that the yamaha reciever was sending 1080p (my older tv is 1080I) and that is why the video wouldn't display on the TV. You can see this in the video signal info screen, unfortunately there is no setting to switch it back, just recycle the cables and power and it should reset.

Uncredibly frustrating but I got my picture back!
