Question about Acer Aspire 5500 5570-2609 Laptop
The first thing to do before you go back to WinXP is to check if there is drivers supporting your laptop, and - you are in luck, drivers for you Acer Aspire 5500 is to be downloaded from here.
It is very important to download the drivers BEFORE you change your OS, as you most likely haven’t got the LAN driver. That will be the first driver you need in order to access the internet.
No, when you have the drivers, then you need the WinXP install CD; you can by that from your computer dealer.
In the BIOS, set the CD to "first boot", then restart and the install will start.
Follow the on screen instructions and you are up and running in about an hour.
Plz, let me know how you go

How do I downgrade?
Install a copy of Windows XP Professional with the product key that came with the copy, and then when you hit the activation screen - which is near the end of the installation process - select the activate by phone option rather than the online method. You'll likely end up talking with a live rep; tell him that you're downgrading from Vista to XP, and give him the Vista product key. The rep is supposed to walk you through the rest.

I think you want to change the operating system from vista to xp, simply re-install xp operating system and it will work but before doing that do check if your model supports xp or not...if it does then you can check for the driver from www.acerpanam.com

Tips for a great answer:
Download the drivers from the Acer WEB site. Make sure you
select the model of your laptop and the XP or Vista version of the drivers you
that require and it matches the Windows version that is installed on your
laptop. Use this link to get to the Acer support: -
