Hyundai PTV421 - 42" Plasma - No Picture

The tv is 2 years old & has worked well. The other day the picture only shows a black screen but I do get audio. Any suggestions on a fix or what may have caused this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you....George

Exact same problem!, bought this from Home Depot, great deal!, but just today(bought around 11 months ago from today april 14/2009) picture gone!!!!!!!! still some audio but no picture. not sure is this a fuse on a board? Power supply problem? 300w power consumumption, or are there bulbs to buy?

loved the tv till today. changing chanels slow but, acceptable.

the unit does not sound the same when starting up, almost as if the transformer is not giving power to where it belongs., there is a reset button on the bottom left of the screen seems like a fixal and did work for some reset errors but not this one!!.

Ps.i got this from Home Depot and with a simple call to the hyundai dealer got a free original remote no charge shipped for free because it had none when purchased the Home Depot rep said that there was no way to get one unless you used and after market universal remote. . I must have just got the right Customer .Service .rep. still very confusing, but free. from Hyundai of course the tv devision.

You usually have this type of lines when there in a problem with the frequency or voltage.
Can you be more specific as to whether this problem is there always or when u use something specifically with the tv(like vcr, cable, etc..)

SOURCE: Picture blacks out after a few seconds after turning on the tv

Anytime an LCD has a shade of pink, that means the CCFL lamps are about to go out. Now that you have a black screen, I'd say you just need some new bulbs.

SOURCE: 42" magnavox plasma tv

I partly agree with imaliszewski the problem is Y buffers (upper & lower). There is 3 parts to the Y board (Y-main, Y-upper, and Y-lower). There was an issue with defective Y-buffers in a memo sent out by the Plasma manufacture. The problem could be that you just got a set of these defective buffers in your panel. Or as Imaliszewski stated a current problem. but if you replace the Y-buffers repace them as a set. If your TV goes out again after changing the buffers. The panel is causing the problem by drawing too much current. That was a Defect I found out why working in a Philips/Magnavox warranty repair facility.

hyundai hpt2450 tv switches on with standby button on remote or at tv and picture and sound ok but the little "tv" symbol at bottom of screen remains on locked in tv mode.It is not possible to change channels alter volume or change input source! The set does not respond to the remote or on board controls. It cannot be switched back to stanby with either the remote or the sets own standby button. It has to be switched off the the main on/off switch.
Any suggestions?

My Phillips flat screen model 42fd9935/17 has started going black after playing for about 2 hours... you can still hear the sound, but the screen is black... the picture will come back after turning the tv...

The cost of getting this plasma fixed is not costwise compared to getting a new TV. I recommend NOT to get another plasma but get either an LCD or LED for the best quality compared with price. Plasma parts can be quite expensive especially for a 10 year old model or may not be available.

Just over 4 years old and the picture has gone like half the screen is black but you can see some of the picture. the part you can see appears see thru ghost like. Model MX-42HPM20

Worst case, components have failed internally that control the electrical signals with the TV which means a repair shop, but these days a new TV works out cheaper.
The other option is loose/broken cables.
Does the TV do this on all channels and inputs?

Tv is about 4 years old. Suddenly developed two

Your plasma screen is made up of 1080 verticle lines and now a few of these lines are not working. This is the screen itself and needs replacing.

No picture on my Toshiba 42HP66 plasma tv.

I too have this problem with no help from hh Gregg, where I bought the tv, and no help from Toshiba. I resorted to calling the BBB and complaining about the defective workmanship. I took the tv, which is less than 2 years old, apart and found the y-sus board, behind the y-sus board is a foam rubber spacer to seperate the circut board from the backside of the screen. I think this pad is designed to prevent heat buildup in the y-sus board. The pad itself is held on by glue and that glue melted causing the y-sus board to short out. I noticed this after finding a tacky substance behind the board. The heat from the plasma screen melted this and also the pad itself. Toshiba claims no resposibility because the tv was out of warranty. Thanks Toshiba.

Samsung Plasma TV - picture has 6 sections of horizontal lines

All I can say is when you watch T.V. the plasmas run off of plasma gas and when you leave something on for so long it burns in the screen. I have the same T.V. and when watching like the weather channel it leaves lines but they go away. If yours are permanent then you can't do anything, but it may help if you go on your remote and go to "menu" then look for "setup" and scroll down with the arrows on your remote. Look for "screen burn protection" and select "white screen". This will make your whole screen white and it may take out the lines. If you let it sit white it won't hurt it. All one color won't hurt, the only thing that hurts is like bright white lines in front of a dark background. Just give your T.V. a break from time to time ESPECIALLY ON VIDEO GAMES. T.V. shows that are HD usually have their channel icons that move or are very dim and they won't hurt. Just go to what I told you and let it sit about 20 minutes, if that doesn't help, then the T.V. you have i believe comes with a 2-year standard warranty and if it's under warranty take it back if you have the reciept. If no reciept then call 1-800-SAMSUNG.

LG PLASMA TV WITH COLOURED LINES OVER SCREEN

If the Video (Picture/Pix) is gone but you can hear the Audio (sound), then it could mean the YSUS PCB Assembly is gone/kaput/finish. Can replace the PCB, not repair the PCB due to timing circuitry involve. Cost maybe roughly $500 depending where you located. The PCB is located on the left hand side of your TV when you are facing the back (Back open). Might find 3-4 brown flex membrane connecting to the plasma panel. The PCB has a silver or black aluminum heatsink (big) on it.
Good Luck.
