My Samsung N150 keyboard aren't working even if I install other OS, what can I do to solve this problem?

The keyboard maybe faulty ot the keyboard chip in the laptop maybe faulty.
Connect an USB keyboard to your laptop and if this keyboard works then most likely the laptop keyboard is faulty or may the keyboard cable is loose and needs reconnecting to the motherboard.

Keyboard not working

Do you have a spare USB keyboard you could try using? If an external keyboard works just fine - but the actual keyboard on the laptop does not respond at all - it is likely that the keyboard has failed.

If you are comfortable taking your laptop apart, you can try to unplug the keyboard and plug it back into the connection point on the laptop. DO NOT TRY THIS UNLESS YOU ARE 100% COMFORTABLE WITH REMOVING THE LAPTOP KEYBOARD.

If you can get the keyboard to work by reseating the connection then that is awesome! However, the problem with laptop keyboards is that there isn't a solid way to tell if the keyboard is bad, or if the motherboard connection for the keyboard is bad. The only way to know for sure is to pay to have the keyboard replaced. If that fixes it, then that is great! But - if paying to get the keyboard replaced doesn't fix the computer, then you will be looking at an expensive motherboard repair.

If an external USB keyboard does work, it may be a temporary solution until you are ready to have a certified technician replace the built in keyboard.

My keyboard will not function. I have done a system restore and no luck.

Well it can be different for every laptop. But you may have a broken keyboard, or just a loose connection. Hopefully a loose connection. What you would need to try in order to check, is to pry away the bezel, and locate the screws that attach the keyboard to the laptop. Remove the screws and carefully lift up the keyboard.

Once you do that, you should see the connecting ribbon cable that plugs the keyboard into the motherboard of the laptop. remove and re-seat the cable and put it back together. Restart the computer and see if you have any luck then. If that doesn't work you either have a broken connection or a bad keyboard.

If your keyboard is bad, check Dell's website to see if your laptop is still under warranty (and worthy of a free fix) or try to find parts for sale on the Dell website or maybe ebay. If you get a good keyboard for your model laptop, you should be able to replace pretty easily.

If a new keyboard is not the answer....then your problem could lie in the connection on the motherboard...if that's the case, you have a much bigger problem.

The keyboard is not working

Hi,

Connect an external USB keyboard, if there's no problems with it then remove your laptop's keyboard. First: Disconnect the ribbon connection and reconnect again
Second: If that doesn't fix the problem
Third: Buy a replacement
If the external USB Keyboard doesn't work you may have some software issues

When I press Num Lock the light goes on but I cannot type numbers from the num lock keyboard. I have checked the Registry & HKey_Current User ...keyboardindicators is set correctly to 2. I am running...

HI there,

It definitely sounds like a hardware problem as you've checked the exact settings for software issues. I'd just replace the keyboard. Go to eBay and enter your laptop's model followed by "keyboard" in the search window. You should a zillion of them for sale and I've rarely seen a laptop keyboard replacement part there over $20.

Best Regards,

Marcus

Keyboard problem. Key 3, @, #, y, n can't use

you may have shorted your keyboard (spillage??)

if your laptop is outside warranty you can check the connection to the keyboard, by removing the top bezel, undoing the keyboard retaining screws and then check that the ribbon cable for your keyboard is seated properly, If reseating this cable does not work the you can always order a replacement for your keyboard, you can find the part number for the keyboard you have, it should be printed on a tag on the reverse of the keyboard.

My laptop keyboard is typing numbers for some reason... I have had to attach a normal keyboard just so I can still type... the drivers are saying that the keyboard is fine, however it is still typing...

this seems to be a more physical problem than a driver problem, have you removed the keyboard before? it may be that the wire which connects the keyboard to the laptop has come lose or hasnt been connected properly.

also as a second suggestion it may be that something has found its way under the keys causing them to stick? very bizzar but it does happen :)
