Problem for HP Compaq Presario SR2011WM PC Desktop

the pc boots up but with in mins it goes blank then with in a few mins it reappears. just off then on what do i need to do to change this a full recovery

Is the monitor going black and then coming back on showing the desktop or what was opened on the screen?
If the screen is going totally black and then showing a picture again it sounds more like a bad video card or a loose cable. I would start with tightening down the monitor cable and if that don't resolve the issue I would highly suspect the video card is on its way out. Hopefully it is just a loose cable as that is easy to fix.
