I have a Whirlpool Duet electric dryer M# GEW9200LW0 that won't move past the sensing function on any cycle

    We heard a racket in the exhaust vent as if there was an animal in there. We don't hear it any more, but if it is still in there, but now not moving, ie dead, would this make the dryer display sense and not run on any cycle?

Try running a diagnostic on the dryer. You do this by making sure the power is off. Then push one of the sensor buttons (not the pause/cancel)
hold for 3 sec.
let go for 3 sec.
hold for 3 sec.
let go for 3 sec.
hold for 3 sec.
the lights will come on and 88 will show in the LED window. Then it should give you a F code.This website has a list of the codes and other instructions. http://fixitnow.com/wp/2007/06/19/whirlpool-duet-sport-dryer-diagnostics-and-fault-codes/
I ran the Diagnostic and it reset my machine and now runs fine. ( I had F-02) stuck button.
hope this helps

I checked all the sensors and ran the diagnostic. I can't remember what if anything the diagnostic showed, but...

There was a dead bird lodged between the exhuast blower and the blower assembly. While I had everything duct wise apart, I vacuumed the duct work and inside the bottom of the dryer. I know it's a good idea to keep the dryer clean as the lint can be a fire hazzard.

You guys on here are the best. Anytime I have any question or problem, I look to the message boards. People who have a little experience can at least give some insite to what the solution could be. Much better than going at it blind. I can't imagine doing this without the internet. I would have to call the man. THANKS!

If this is a newer model, you will probably need to call the repairman. Because, you could end up replacing a lot of parts before you get to the right one. This sounds like the thermostat. Does the dryer work at all?

My whirlpool duet electric dryer electrical systems and heat work fine, but drum won't turn and belt is in tact.

Check the motor capacitor,sometimes the capacitor could be faulty or the motor is faulty or check if the motor is receiving power,if it's receiving power try to replace the capacitor if the is any in the system,if still it's not working then the motor could be burnt.

Also check weather the timer is perfecty.

Whirlpool GEW9200LW0 Not heating

Hi
You need to remove the back panel first then with a multi meter the easiest way is to put the meter on continuaty test (beeps when contact is made then with the dryer switched of and unplugged put one probe on the one side of the element and the other on the other side if it beeps then your element should be ok if not one of two things (1) Your element is blown or (2) there should be a fuse around the area of the back support plate it may be a normal round fuse or a ceramic round fuse or what looks like a brown rectangular piece of plastic with a wire out each side test the fuse in the same way as you tested the element if blown replace if not then put in a element.

Whirlpool Duet dryer won't move past sensing function on any cycl

Found the culprit. The thermal fuse was blown. Had no conductivity with ohm meter so I placed a jumper around it and presto dryer runs. Cleaned the exhaust and fan but found no blockage and really was not that bad. Hoping maybe just a weak part. The model on the Whirlpool Duet electric dryer is GEW9250PWL I believe the the last three are just the color. The part number on the Thermal Fuse is #3392519. This is easy to get to through the front panel just below the load door. Hope this helps some else out.
