Go to control panel>sound speech and audio devices>sounds and audio devices and click audio tab and see if there are any drop down options to change the microphone recording device

If you have audio cables from your source connected to the capture card, then your Recording device needs to be the Line In of the capture card.

If you connect the source to the Line In on the computer, then you use that as the default recording device. Until I set this, the default audio recording device was my microphone (not connected at the time). In Windows, you need the Manage Audio Devices Recording tab. (In Windows 7 and 8, it's under Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Manage Audio Devices.)

If you are recording something playing on your computer, then the stereo mix option may work.

You should be able to use any video&audio software if the drivers are compatible. Thus the software you used for the video recording should work. (Stereo mix may be an exception - not all sound cards actually work when you try to record that content.)

I hope this helps.

Xitel Inport De luxe with window 7

The directions for using the Xitel Inport Deluxe under Win7 are the same as those for using the device with Vista. The drivers are built into the OS. You will need to set the audio input to the Xitel device. For most installs of Windows 7 (Aero capable), with the Inport Deluxe plugged into a USB port on the computer, click Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound. Under the Sound listing, click on Manage Audio Devices. In the Recording tab, right click on Microphone Input and select Disable. Right click on the Line INport and select Enable. Right click again on Line INPort and make this the default device. Click on the Playback tab and right click on Speakers INport and select Disable.
If Aero isn't available, it's Control Panel > Sound.

You can use any recording software that runs under your version of Windows 7. The LP Recorder software manual starts on page 8 of the Xitel Inport Deluxe manual. If you do not have the original disc, LP Recorder is available here: . (Audacity, , works much the same way as LP Recorder. However the drop down menus for the source and output are available from the main program with the default toolbars enabled.)

I hope this helps.

Trouble recording records

When recording from a phonograph, I use the following items.
Depending on the phonograph whether or not it's MC or MM makes a difference in sound although most can't tell the difference. Also, you need to know if your phonograph requires a pre-pre amp or if that pre-pre amp is built in and the line coming out is at line level. The Rolls item is a pre-pre amp unit which takes to older phonographs signal level to that of input levels which allow the phonograph to be connected to any aux line in.

On the back of the computer, you can plug the RCA jacks from the phonograph into the adapter and directly into your computer via the MIC (usually pink) input. Most of the time this is sufficient. If the volume is too loud, or sounds horrible, chances are you have a pre-pre amp and you then plug it into the line in (usually blue)
First I would connect the RCA's from the phonograph to the adapter and plug it into the mic and see how the sound is.
Keep in mind that you do not use the ROLLs unit when connecting this way. If it's too loud or distorted, plug it into the line in.
For recording, you can download Audacity which is free and a wonderful editing program.

Xitel INport audio not coming through

Change your recording device in your control panel back to your soundcard that will allow the sound back to your computer. In order to record you had to change it to Inport.

Capturing video & audio through s-video input .

Hi, try this, go to control panel-click sound and audio devices and ensure that your system is configured to the right devices for recording from your camera. The easiest way to run any of this equipment is to set all systems at default. and purchase a USB sound/video adaptor [cheap from china] and plug your camera into this when you wish to record from it. when finished, remove the adaptor the same as you would with any USB hot swap device, your computer will revert to the default settings. Next time you use your camera , plug it in and windows will auto detect it again. Goodluck. mistyman

How to input audio with capturing the video?

The white and red leads off the VCR are typically audio, the yellow is video. I would suspect the problem is elsewhere. The cards capture software is a likely candidate.
