Question about Canon imageCLASS D760 All-In-One Laser Printer

Paper jam A sheet of legal paper is jammed just before being ejected from Canon D760. When cartridge is removed, paper cannot be seen. It is "accordianed" just before the final exit roller. Paper was torn off and jagged edge can be just barely seen, but not grabbed. Manually moving gears on toner cartidge side does nothing, but you can sort of hear the roller(s) moving against the paper. I've removed the front, rear cover, and other obvious panels, but the jam seems to be sealed inside the fuser area. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Mark

We have removed the ink cartridge as well as the paper tray, and cannot access the legal paper jam just before it would exit the machine. Please advise on how to access this area.

We had this same problem. You need the back cardboard section of a legal pad. Take out the cartridge and slide the back of the cardboard slowly into the rollers, pushing it out the end where the paper comes out. This helps push the paper jam out. You may have to do this several times slowly to get the jammed paper out. But it worked for us!

This paper jam has happened to use 5 or 6 times now over the past 2 years and we had to carry the da?? machine down to the nearest repair shop and pay $150 plus be without it for a week. Why can't anyone give us the information on how to remove the fuser and fix this problem. What is the big deal?

Using the cardboard from the back of the legal pad worked for us! After we pushed the cardboard slowly into the rollers the jammed paper finally came out. Thanks for the advise saved us $$ on a service call.

I have the same problem, so why won't Canon post the original poster's solution to the problem that he had posted in the first place to which Canon gave a poor solution, ie, see a professional. I paid many hundreds of $$$ for this Canon Image Class D760 & now that it is 6 months out of its 3 year warranty, Canon won't even tell me how to fix my accordianed paper that's jammed & won't come out.

Without a service manual and comparing with laser printers, I am assuming that I will have to go through the back and removing the boards and cage to access the fuser. Or is there an easier way?

Not fun! The fuser has to come out to get to it. I dont recommend doing it yourself if you have never done it.

Printer says paper jam, But there is no paper jam.

I will ask where does the sheet of paper lie inside the printer when it jams or is there no sheet of paper to be seen. Next question does the printer actualy pick up a sheet of paper. if not may be worn\ missing grey rollers, which can be seen by removing paper tray and looking in and up. There are 3 main sensors usually one at the paper pickup from tray, next one half way through( under a plate which is under the toner cartridge) and the last one is on the fuser at the rear, although the last one normally gives the alarm message " jam in fuser area" check these sensors out for sticking or not free.

The paper keeps jamming, I cant see anything in the way. any help is appreciated.

If paper doesn't feed correctly when printing, remove it and fan the edges of the paper to separate the sheets. Reload the paper against the right side and slide the edge guide against it. Do not load too many sheets at once.
If paper has jammed: 1. Press x Start to eject the jammed paper. 2. If paper is still jammed, gently pull it out from the output tray or sheet feeder. If paper is stuck inside, press the P On button to turn off the printer. Then lift the scanner, remove the jammed paper and torn pieces, close the scanner, and turn the printer back on.
If documents don't feed correctly in the Automatic Document Feeder, make sure the corners of the paper are not bent, folded, or curled up. Do not load more than 10 sheets of legal-size paper at a time. If documents have jammed: 1. Open the ADF cover and pull any paper out to the left. Caution: Do not try to remove the paper without opening the ADF cover first, or you could damage the mechanism. 2. Select Yes or press OK to clear any messages on the display screen. 3. Reload the paper.

You may have a piece of paper left inside. If the paper tears and a piece remains inside the machine, open the
Scanning Unit and remove it. Be careful not to touch the components inside the machine at this time. After removing the paper, close the
Scanning Unit, turn the machine OFF and turn it back ON.
If you tried to print Credit Card-sized paper in the landscape orientation you can get <PAPER JAMMED> or <E,3> displayed on the LCD/LED, remove the
paper following the procedure below.
1. Load Credit Card-sized paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder one sheet at a time.
Do not load it in the landscape orientation.
2. Press [ON/OFF] on the machine to turn OFF the power.
3. Press [ON/OFF] again on the machine to turn ON the power.
The paper is fed and the jammed paper is ejected accordingly.
If you cannot remove the jammed paper or the error still persists, contact a Canon service representative.

There is a paper jam below the sliding lid -

I suggest opening the right cover to remove paper jammed internally. There is a lengthy document at Canon support for your model: (you need to input your problem into the search box - ie. "ERROR LCD: Paper Jam" and click Search button).

Paper jammed

Hi there,
Paper Jams

Cause 1 : Paper jams in the paper output slot/Auto Sheet Feeder.
Action : Remove the paper according to the following procedure.
a) Slowly pull the paper out, either from the Auto Sheet Feeder or from the paper output slot, whichever is easier.
* If the paper tears and a piece remains inside the machine, open the Scanning Unit and remove it. Be careful not to touch the components inside the machine at this time. After removing the paper, close the Scanning Unit, turn OFF and turn it back ON.
* If you cannot pull the paper out, turn the machine OFF and turn it back ON. The paper will be ejected automatically.
b) Reload the paper into the machine and press [OK].
* If you have turned OFF the machine in step a), you will need to retry printing, because this operation cancels any print jobs in progress.
If you cannot remove the paper or the paper tears inside the machine, or if the paper jam error continues after removing the paper, contact a Canon service representative.

Cause 2 : Landscape Credit Card-size Paper Jams inside the Machine.
Action : You cannot load Credit Card-size paper in the landscape orientation.
If <PAPER JAMMED> or <E3> is displayed on the LCD/LED, remove the paper following the procedure below:
a) Load Credit Card-sized paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder one sheet at a time.
Do not load it in the landscape orientation.
b) Press [ON/OFF] on the machine to turn OFF the power.
c) Press [ON/OFF] again on the machine to turn ON the power.
The paper is fed and the jammed paper is ejected accordingly.
If you cannot remove the jammed paper or the error still persists, contact a Canon service representative.

Hope this helps

Paper jam on the ouy feed roolers

outfeed? u mean the fixing assembly?? where the paper gets warmed?? u need to unmount the panel, open the cartridge cover and unscrew. the slide panel and carefully unplugged the flat cable.
then you need to remove the platten glass. remove left small cover and then remove platten glass. remove the black cover besides the scanner. now remove the left covers, all of them, and unplug the fixing assembly. they are at least two connectors that go right to the power supply board. now you need to unscrew the fixing assembly, see the top of the recently uncover top, you must see two holes, thru them you should see screws, two on one side and one on the other, unscrew them, and then you will finallly release the fixing assembly. now that you got it out remove the plastic cover if it's there and then remove the two screws that has one on each side, now rmeove the metallic cover, you may need to unlock a little metal locks on the sides, push or pull depending situation and then finally free the unit from its cover. at this point you must be really able to remove all the jammed paper. clean up with pressurized air if possible. now that is paper free you need to mount everything back as original. good luck!!

Paper jam

Remove the paper following the procedure below.
(1) Load a single sheet of the same paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder in portrait orientation.
Do not load it in the landscape orientation.
(2) Turn off the machine.
(3) Turn on the machine.
The paper is fed and then pushes out the jammed paper as it ejects.
If you cannot remove the jammed paper or the paper jam error continues after removing the paper, contact your Canon Service representative.
