My laptop screen went very dark, I can barely make out whats on the screen but I know its working. What can I do to fix this situation on my gateway p-6860fx pc notebook?

Hi josue fernan...
You need to see if your laptop lcd screen is faulty and/or the lcd inverer is faulty.
1....Test the lcd screen:
Hook your laptop to an outside monitor and then start your laptop normally...if the picture on the external monitor is good, then your lcd screen is bad.
2....Backlight Faulty: If the monitor is still as dark like your lcd screen on the laptop then it could be the backlight that is faulty.
Please take time to rate me thumbs up

I have a Gateway M6750. I can power on the laptop and it goes thru the boot up to the desktop. I do not have any screen display. I have tried the FN keys with no solution. Any other...

Are you able to see a display if you plug in an external monitor? Remember that may have to use one of the fn functions (F8 on a lot of machines) to have it display on an external monitor.

Picure does not fill out the screen

First try it on another video source. If it changes it's the source. If I hook a monitor to my laptop and put it display and external at the same time it uses the wide screen settings of my laptop display. If I go external only it fills it totally out. Also get into the on screen display and find where you can do reset or auto adjust. If nothing works regardless of machine it's on then the display may be failing and need service. Capacitors on the power board in LCD monitors since about 2004 have been prone to failure.

Hi

To rule out lcd screen issue, if possible can you hook up a external monitor to the laptop if this works then your LCD screen may be faulty and will need to be investigated further

Please can i ask that you leave feedback and vote if this has been useful

My M6750 notebook monitor will not light up(it's

The fault could be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp.
The inverter supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp anf the CCFL lamp is a tint fluro lamp and it dims with age or fails like any fluro lamp.
You could test the voltage output of the inverter with a multi-meter or just replace it cost about $40 and the CCFL lamp cost about $10.

M6750 lcd whiteout

its going to need to be troubleshot deeper. Its either going to be an lcd, inverter or a motherboard problem. The only thing to do is to try another lcd and inverter. If those fail, then it has to be the lcd connector on the motherboard which means the motherboard would have to be replaced.

Gateway flat LCD dead

I'm not sure if your referring to the lcd monitor (gateway brand) or a laptop's lcd screen not working anymore.

1. if it's an lcd monitor...
a. test monitor in a different pc before assuming the problem is the lcd screen
b. replace the monitor if after testing monitor is in deed the item failing.

2. if it's the lcd screen from your gateway laptop.
a. you may be able to attach a regular analog monitor to the paralel port on your gateway.. test and see if the monitor that you attach will give you a picture (you may have to toggle with some some keys on your laptop keyboard to make have the signal going to the "externa" or attached monitor.
if the other monitor does not work either.. you video controller on your motherboard on your laptop may be failing and you may not have other options that to replace your laptop.
b. if the external/attached monitor works.. very likely the problem is the lcd screen for that you need to get a replacement and you may have to contact gateway to find out about pricing (or places to send your laptop for service if you're still within warranty). if you have an old laptop you may have to considere simply replacing the unit as buying a new lcd screen may very likely be more expensive than the same working laptop.

I flashed the bios on my gateway m675 and it stopped working. It turns on but screen is blank. If I hook it up to an external monitor I can get into bios. Is there anyway to get it back to the way it was?...

pls check the bios set up externally if you mistakenly turn the brightness down, and correct it

or see if ther is any brightness button you accidentally pushed on the top of your laptop

or ther could be some problem with your LCD inverter or the LCD itself.
