Phillipe Stark PH1079 watch - Can't get back off to replace bat
We purchased the watch in Italy in 2006. After two years of good service it needs a new battery. We have taken it to 5 different jewelers and none are able to rotate the stainless steel back plate to access the inside of the watch. Has anyone else had this problem?

Re: Phillipe Stark PH1079 watch - Can't get back off to...
There is nothing wrong with your watch. The problem is in tools the jewellers are using for opening the watch. Despite being under one roof, watchmaking and jewellery are completely different trades and are miles apart. Jewellers usually are equipped with very basic watch repair tools and the case openers are no exeption. You have to find your nearest watch repair shop and ask for watchmaker, not jeweller. Any decent watchmaker will have the right tool to open your watch and replace the battery in a matter of minutes. Do not forget to rate, please.

It is unusual for a quartz watch to stop so soon (presumably the battery is now dead?).
I suggest you contact the makers local customer care center and discuss it with them.
You can find their local service center by going to http://www.haurex.com/collezione.asp?id=93 and clicking on "after sales service". If you have any proof of purchase date, then it should be still under warranty if it needs repair.
Perhaps you have operated a number of options that have confused the poor thing! I suggest that you obtain a copy of the user instructions and to do this you should go to the Fossil web site (fossil.com) and enter "Phillipe Stark" in the search box.
Got to the bottom of the screen and there is a menu of alternatives; choose "customer care".
The next page has a menu on the left, choose "watch instructions"
Select the illustration that matches your watch and choose the instructions by the model number.
If you cannot get the watch to operate satisfactorily even when you have followed the instructions, then you can only contact the manufacturer and aask for help.
hold the left, bottom button (marked ....) for a few seconds....then
press the top right button (marked with 1 dot) to change between the
hour, minute, date etc. use the bottom right button to advance the
flashing number, and when finished setting time and date, use the
bottom left button to stop the numbers flashing and return the watch to
normal. hope this helps, this is also how to change the date for the
other question asker (works on 2 other starck/fossil watches i have and
i assume the controls are the same).
