What is the adjustment screw under the throttle?

Hi Darren, on the right hand side of the carburator there is an idle adjusting screw with a spring behind it, turn screw clockwise to increase idle counter clockwise to decrease idle. At the front of the carburetor on the bottom of the venturi bore there is also an air/fuel mixture screw inside a carb body lug that may or may not be plugged with an aluminum cap that's about 3/16" thick. This cap can be drilled out to acess the air/fuel mixture screw. Turning screw clockwise will lean out mixture and lower idle, turning screw counter clockwise will richen mixture and raise idle. Start by turning gently the screw clockwise until it just barley bottoms out then back it out 1 3/4 turns. You need to balance the two adjusting screws to obtain an idle of 950-1000 RPM then back out air/fuel mixture screw 1/8 turn, snap throttle to confirm responce, you may continue to back out air/fuel mixture screw untill desired throttle responce is achieved, if you see black smoke coming out of exhaust you have gone to far and need to turn screw back in 1/8 turn at a time, final adjustment should be made with the engine at normal operating temperature. Where is the fuel mixture screw on poulan pp133

On the carb. Low for initial and high for top end. Start with both at 2 1/2 turns out. Then adjust low when you pull the trigger to eliminate hesitation. Then floor it and hold while you adjust the high

How do I adjust the mixture screws on the top of the Ryobi 700r carburator

Hi trr6...

Before you remove or try to adjust your low and high speed jets you should always count the number of turns it takes to lightly seat the idle mixture screw and high speed needle adjusting screws.
Be sure to write the number of turns down on a piece of paper so you will know how many turns from the seated position to open the jets when you go to reinstall them, or if you remove them for cleaning or replacement.
If you have aready tried to adjust them then the adjustments below should get it running for you for final adjustment when warm.
Normally you will adjust your idle jet to 1/2-3/4 turn open from the bottom seated position.
Then you will re-adjust the low speed of the engine when the engine is warm by turning the idle screw in or out till the engine runs smoothly at idle speed, around 1200 RPM.
The high speed jet is adjusted to 1 1/2- 1 3/4 open from the bottom seated position, after the engine is warm.
Then re-adjusted by turning the High Speed jet adjustment screw in or out till the motor runs smoothly at high speed.
Alway use the "lightly seated" method if you have not changed the screw settings.
Please take time to rate me

Adjust carburator on homlite chain saw

Hi

If its an old Homelite you should have 3 screw on the carburator.
First bigger screw for adjust idle on the butterfly.
The 2 other for the mixture. One screw is ''L'' for low rpm mixture an other screw is ''H'' for high rpm mixture.

First the idle screw. It should just open a little bit the carburator butterfly.
Second full close both ''L'' and ''H'' screws (turn clockwise).
After open both ''L'' and ''H'' screws 1/2 to 3/4 turn (conterclockwise)

Normally the saw should start. Tune the ''L'' screw to have the motor running at idle if idle is to fast at this point is not important. After motor is running by itself at idle tune the ''H'' screw.
Full throttle tune the ''H'' screw to be able to pass from low rpm to high rpm with no lag.
Than at full throttle open again a little bit the ''H'' screw to make the high rmp mixture more rich.
Becarful if ''H'' screw is not adjust correctly the mixture will be to poor and motor damage can occur.

It may be necessary to re-tune a very little bit the ''L'' screw and idle screw after the correct setting of the ''H'' screw.

If it still not working carburator kit may be needed,

On some newer model there is no adjusting screws in this case see if a carburator kit is available for your model.

Poulan Wild thing, 18", will not idle after throttle is released.

Need to change the fuel filter. It is inside of the fuel tank on the end of a small gas line. You need to carefully fish it out of the tank. Usually a piece of stiff wire with a hook bent on the end of it should do it or possibly a pickup tool. Then I'd recommend readjusting the carburetor. The default setting for the H and L carburetor jet is usually to turn them in all the way till they stop and back them out a turn and a half. You need to set the mixtures for the carburetor. You will find a Low and High adjustment screw. turn the low adjustment screw out. You will notice that the rpms should start increasing. keep turning it out until the rpms start to drop then turn it back in a quarter of a turn. You may need to readjust the idle speed so the chain doesn't turn during idle. Do the same for the high adjustment screw.

The standard setting on needles is to screw them in all the way and then back them out 1 and a half turns.

You need to set the mixtures for the carburetor. You will find a Low and High adjustment screw. turn the low adjustment screw out. You will notice that the rpms should start increasing. keep turning it out until the rpms start to drop then turn it back in a quarter of a turn.
