Are you sure this is a valid number? I mean check the numbers especially for zero and the letter O. They will usually try to put a line through the zero to distinguish it from the letter. Let me know if this works.

What is my registration number

A Registration number is when the computer is registered.
Registered with Microsoft, or perhaps eMachines; for example.

To me an erroneous procedure, as it just gives them Personal information about you, which they DID NOT have, and DO NOT need..........

"Oh get great information about Windblows, or use eMachines (Insert any computer maker here), helpful tech information...."

UH, NOT.........
Nothing good comes from it.......

For a computer that is Not registered, it is just Activated.
The Windows program is Activated.
This requires using the Windows Product Key, which is found on the Back of the computer, or up on the side of the computer tower.

Let these X's represent letters, and numbers.
The Windows product key is 25 characters long,

XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

Need to reboot computer,windows98,invalid disk error

You have to go into your BIOS and select booting from Disk not hard drive when i say disk i mean either the cdrom or dvd disk players attached to your motherboard. also you can get a boot disk to try that at the link below.

Presumably Windows needs to be reactivated. That is why you are getting the prompt. Windows has an approximate of 3 windows activations, which will automatically go through via the internet. If any hardware changes are detected in the computer, this changes the ID codes in the computer. Follow the telephone prompts for activation. Solution is activate over the telephone rather then the internet. The correct windows license code is on the rear of the computer.

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: /WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/CONFIG/SYSTEM You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup...

Hi Nzcityline,

ouch this ones a hard hit. it seems that somehow your windows data has become corrupt. This can happen for many of numerous reasons, but the point is that you must either repair the installation (which will keep your data intact) or reformat (which will clear your hardrive) in order to get windows to work again. Both of the above options require a windows CD to fix.

There is a third option and that is to take your hardrive out and put it in another windows computer in order to retrieve your data.

If any of the above seem like something that you would be hesitant to do i would recommend to allow a professional to backup your data then reformat your hardrive. It is an easy job for them and you wont have to put out for a windows CD which is an expensive venture.

I'm sorry for the bad news I always hate to see this happen and if i was your neighbor i would fix it :)

thanks for posting and please dont forget to rate.
