Question about LG 24 in. LDS 5811 Built-in Dishwasher

Lds5811 pumps motor cycles

Replaced motor after getting a motor failure code and also found a broken gray wire in the door. Now pump motor will cycle when in the rinse and wash cycle, It has run up to ten minutes at a time and sometime only for a few seconds, it usaully will run after it cycles 4 to 5 time. What controls the pump motor that would cause it to cycle, flow sensor, overload? There are also other discolored wires, but they don't show any cracking or stress.

The pump is supposed to cycle 4-5 times at the beginning to prime the pump motor. This should last only for about a minute.

If your unit has a serial number that starts with 712 or lower then there may be an issue with the wiring in the door. This sounds like your case if you had a broken wire and discolored wires. The issue has to do with black, tarry residue getting on the wires and causing them to deteriorate from the inside out.

If this is your case, call LG customer service at 800-243-0000 and have them refer to service bulletin IDSW20070060. If your unit is out of warranty they may extend it to cover the repairs (the door liner and wire harness will need replaced).

LE error message

Hi there,

Well LE means locked motor, this seems to be a very common problem withe these dishwashers.

Possible Cause For Error Occurrence:
Wiring connection is OK?
The Impeller of Washing Pump is locked.
The rotor of Washing Motor is locked.
The Blade is locked.

Anyway the LE error code is not all-ways indicative of a motor problem. There are also strong chances of any lose connection (wire), so first you can simply unscrew the front door panel from the retaining screws on the inside of the perimeter of the door. Once the screws are removed pull down and out to remove the door panel. Remove the sound insulating material and you will see several wires routed from the contol panel the length of the door to underneath the unit. Inspect the wires thoroughly. Near the bottom is where the pinching can take place. There are two gray wires and if you have been getting the "LE" error code, one of those wires is most likely broken or pinched. Splice, reconnect, solder or tape.......

Pump motor cycles

If you are still having problems, providing the serial number is actually important because of a retrofit to several items in the door panel. Which could actually be related to your symptom.
Please provide the serial number or report back what you did to resolve the problem. Thanks!

Error F 04

im not up to speed with the codes. BUT if you are able to open the door this suggests the bulk of the water has pumped away, so I suspect motor or belt problems. Can you hear the motor spinning when it should be? ie on spin cycle. If not suspect carbon brushes in motor, or even a broken/burned out wire to motor. Replace belt if broken

Error code E1 on LG dishwasher

I have this sometimes where E1 is reported and the pump remains on. The following voodoo has worked for me.

1) Make sure there is not a real drain problem.
2) Cancel any cycle or turn the power button off then on.
3) Run a rinse cycle (15 minutes).
4) If pump continues to run, turn off the power to the dishwasher, let stand for a minute, then repeat steps 2-3. If still not working, leave power off over night and leave the door open then try again.

In each iteration, it is important to curse your LG product and/or threaten it with replacement.
