I bought a 99 1.4 petrol golf in september. the seller said that the timing belt was replaced at 65000 miles. it has no markings to say it had been done and no service history. it has 96000 miles now. should i replace it??? help!!
This is a direct quote when I asked about a timing belt on a 99 passat
"The timing should be Good unless you have Problems with a Rough Idle."
the person has an 85% accuracy rating, so he seems to know what he is talking about. however, if its of major concern to you, its better to replace it before it snaps, adding more money to the repair.
