I have just started using a morse zig zag model mzz. Whenever i start sewing, the thread bunches up and is cut by the needle. I looked up how to thread it so I know it was done correctly. I thought it might be the tension, because the spool of thread was very loose, but I tried it on every tension setting and it was still doing the same thing. I have no manual, and really need to get going on my christmas sewing projects. Thank you.
Change the needle--one that is correct for the fabric being sewed
check the needle plate and see if there are any burrs--if there
are gently use a small file to take off the burr
check with sewvacdoctor.com,,,or ,,a1sewingmachines.com
or sewusa.com about a manual,,, you'll have to call them or
email them about the manual..
the tenison dial may need to be replaced.

I had the same problem and it was so frustrating! It was happening to me because I wasn't using the right size needle. Go up a couple of needle sizes and see if that helps.

Make sure that you use the F foot when using decorative stitches.
The stitch balance my be off. Remove the accessory bin and you will see a large plastic screw with a + and a - and an arrow. Using a coin, turn the arrow to the center and test. Turn the arrow towards the + to stretch the pattern out.
If this doesn't work, it must me calibrated internally and requires an experience hand.

More than likely you have a broken vertical shaft gear.
When you turn the handwheel you should see the sewing hook moving under the bobbin case.
If not, take it to a sewing repair person and it should cost somewhere around $100 to repair.
