We have the same problem, and when we took it apart a small rubber had snapped. We super glued it and it now works for now until we can get a spare. Good luck

The CD part of my player does not start.

From what it sounds like, the laser lens in your cd player is having trouble reading discs. Is it just one cd or all? assuming it's all. you make want to get a cd lens cleaner disc....it's basically a cd with little bristles on the bottom designed to 'sweep away' the dust that accumulates on the lens. However, should you do that a few times (i usually give it about five good runs) and it still doesnt work, try another disc and listen closely for any sort of 'out of place' clicking noises....especially a monotonous repetitively click or ticking.... that usually indicates that the lens carriage has somehow jammed or come off track and needs to be replaced or refitted. refitting them on the track isnt difficult and once you open it up it's pretty self explanatory if you're mechanically inclined. Hope this helps.

The tray will not open. I loaded the cd's into the changer, closed the tray and it sounded like one of the cd's may have slipped. It does not change or play.

my friend u r going 2 have 2 take it apart. you will have 2 unscrew 4 or 6 screws from the side or bottem 2 take off the top a take out the cds yourself. its not hard 2 do.just remember tht a disk changer can b off track. its possible 2 pull it open but dnt do it if u will break the door track

Toc error 14

On questions like this it would help if we knew the manual was or was not consulted.

And if it was NOT, why.

C14 / TOC Error The unit did not read the TOC information. Insert other discs.

http://www.cdrfaq.org/faq02.html#S2-19

[Extract]

"If you write data to a disc and leave the session open, the TOC -- which tells the CD player or CD-ROM drive where the tracks are -- is written into a separate area called the Program Memory Area, or PMA. CD recorders are the only devices that know to look at the PMA, which is why you can't see data in an open session on a standard playback device. CD players won't find any audio tracks, and CD-ROM drives won't see a data track. When the session is finalized, the TOC is written in the lead-in area, enabling other devices to recognize the disc.
(Something to try: write an audio track to a blank CD, and leave the session open. Put the disc in a CD player. Some players will deny the existence of the disc, some will spin the disc up to an incredible speed and won't even brake the spindle when you eject the disc, others will perform equally random acts. The TOC is important!)"

CD carousel won't rotate. Opens and closes fine, but will not change discs in either the open or closed position.

gears may have something obstructing them. Check and clean with dustaway. Gears may be broken jammed or slipping belt.

I have a Technics 5 disc CD player. The loading

Unplug the units power, unscrew and remove the top. it has 3 screws on the back and I believe 2 in each side. Look to see if anything such as a CD is jamming or preventing the tray from opening.

If there isn't something like a CD physically blocking the door mechanism then the issue could be anything from a slipping drive band a dead motor or something has gone wrong with the mainboard.

The "expected" life of an audio component is 5-9 years. If its past 3 years old its generally not worth repairing as 1 hour labor and a motor for instance would cost you more than the cost of a new unit.

Hope that helps

Disc gets jammed mid-way between CD magazine slot and inside player

Thats alot of disc this ubit holds. 110+1!! The CD changer arm mechanism sounds like is out of timming or the gears have slipped there teeth, and or the cam is broken, or theres a couple of small microswitches that can get broken as well.. The only way to work on this unit and see what the problem is, is to get a service manual and go through the mechanical alighnment and see where the problem is. Unless you can do a physical examination and know where every lob and gear is suppose to be, I do not see any other ways.
