Another Ice Maker Problem

My sister purchased the LG LSC26905TT Side by Side Refrigerator about 3 months ago. Recently i came home to notice that her kids seemed to have left the fridge door open and it had been beeping for quite some time. After that, the ice maker slowed down to a standstill (No longer making ice) and the fridge didn't stay as cool as it use to and even leaked water onto the floor. The temp continued to drop so eventually all that was left to do was empty the fridge and wait for a repairman to come out. The repairman determined that the problem was the "Evap Fan Motor" and changed it. It has now been about 48 hours and although the fridge is cold and the freezer is forming ice at the back (Just a little bit), the ice maker is still not pouring water into the ice tray or producing ice. The freezer is at it's highest temp setting. Anything i can do myself without calling the repairman again?

He came back a second time and said it was the condenser (or something like that). He came back the third time and really just said that something was blocked and may or may not clear itself sooner or later (Which pretty much means that he gives up). So LG finally decided that they will give my sister a new fridge after some red tape insurance delays of course.

I unplugged it just now. No reason to open the doors since the fridge and freezer are both warmer than this house and stink. I will check it tomorrow night to see if there is any change.

Sorry i didn't reply sooner but my job has been running me around.

I suspect that repair man got it wrong. ice may be blocking return duct to fridge. worth a chance to turn off for 24 hours with doors open then retry

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Squeaky, chirping sound & exterior of fridge on veritical middle panel and freezer side are hot

I think you should try the following:

1. turn off the power.
2. clean/vacuum the lint under and behind the fridge.
3. after a few hours, power on.
If this does not work, you will have to call a repairer unless it is under warranty.
good luck

LG Side by Side - replaced filter now ice/ water will not worl

See if it works when you pull the filter out and try running it (without the filter in). If it works, try buying a new filter and make sure you have the filter that is made for your specific refrigerator. If no water comes out or no ice is made after pulling filter out, than you probably have a obstruction in the line. If thats the case you should have someone come out to fix it. If your mechanically inclined you can try to do it yourself. I would suggest reading the owners manual first, in the "troubleshooting" section.

Help to solve my problem

Contact both and do it in writing.  Also contact the local newspaper.
Tell them the history of the fridge and your problems with it.  Also look on the web for a consumer services hot line.

Ice maker stopped after electric shutoff

You may have a problem with the computer control board in the ice maker.  Try this.  Turn off the icemaker for about 2 minutes.
Turn on the ice maker and press the clear button.  Press and hold this button for 12 seconds to get it to force extract.  This will confirm that the motors will work and push the ice cubes out.  Afterwards, let it run by itself.  If it still doesn't make ice, you will need to replace the icemaker.
