What usually breaks is the door open lever, but it may also be that the rear side of the door open button has worn down too far to work.

Please unplug the oven before disassembly.

If you or someone you know wants to look into this, we have critical safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

Once it is apart, you'll be able to see how the door open button would press against the door open lever, which would then lift up against the door latch heads (hook-like projections on the door) and the door should open.

You can usually find exploded views and get part numbers by entering your model number at the Sears parts site.

The best place to order parts for this brand is Encompass (formerly Tritronics). Or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Sharp Carousel Microwave door won't open, button broke

Take it to a Discount Appliance or Used Appliance store and have them repair it. There they will have the parts that are used and cheaper to repair than hiring an Appliance Service Technician.
Option 2
Take the microwave apart and go to www.searpartsdirect.com and type in your model number and find the broken part and part number. Then order the part through ApplianceZone.com or ApliancePartsPro.com. Later when parts arrive at your door... install theparts yourself and save money!

Sharp carousel microwave R-1514 F one touch door release button is stuck

What usually breaks is the door open lever.

On an over-the-range model, only the control panel needs to be removed in most cases.

Please unplug the oven first.

At our site, we now have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

We have 2 service manuals that are very close to this model have uploaded it them our site here to help you. You will need the free Acrobat Reader to view or print them.

Door Won't Close

What usually breaks is the door open lever, but sometimes there's just a grease buildup around the door open button.

On a counter top model, the outer cover will need to be removed to diagnose and repair this. On an over-the-range model, only the control panel needs to be removed.

Please unplug the oven first.
