Washing machine releasing water at wrong time

My older model Maytag washer works great most of the time but has recently started releasing water as it is trying to fill or re-fill to the point that it never reaches full and runs constantly. Any idea how to fix it?

Can't find where the clutch goes on a Maytag Performa PAV 3300, is it in the transmission?

This washer is a single belt driven model that uses a thrust washer system to release the brake when the motor reverses. In wash mode a 200# spring locks the tub place while the transmission agitates the clothes. The pump cannot remove the water in this direction. In spin mode the the brake is released and the water gets pumped out. Here is a great pictorial that shows how to replace the kit along with a Maytag single belt washer service manual.

Centennial washer, will fill with water, wont spin or agitate, power is good

Easy fix. Lid switch is bad. This is a direct drive machine. Older models would wash but not spin these latest babys won't wash or spin with the lid switch broken. To access te switch you flip up the control by using a putty knife to release each end. Older models had a screw that needed to be removed, not so with the newest ones. The switch has 2 hot wires and a ground wire. Jump them 2 hot wires and see if she runs

I have a maytag washer and the washer spins but emptys all but about 1" of the water. I'm at work and I'm not sure what model the washer is. It is an older washer.

Hello, sounds like the water isn't getting out of the machine in the allotted time. this means that there is retriction in the drain pump or the hose is slightly kinked in behind the machine. look for this good luck

I have an older Maytag washer model number LAT5000AAW which up until now has worked great.  Went to do a load of laundry this morning but it won't work.  It won't even fill up with water.  Please help!!...

First...check to see if the machine has power.  Plug a lamp into the outlet.  Move the machine through all cycles.  Something ought to work.  If still nothing...suspect the timer.

We own a older Maytag Washing machine that has worked great over the years. We have been living in IL with our own well water and have found just the cold water to be slow in entering the machine. Now,...

You have to check your faucet coming to the machine. Is there good pressure from the cold pipe, there shd be; maybe a valve not fully open? While you are there clear the screens on your hoses and machine. Check for leaks after refitting.

Maytag washer is a bit older its a Dependable Care model 3cycle

The agitation problem is probably caused by a bad timer. Also, on the wrinkling issue, be sure that your hoses are connected right (hot to hot, cold to cold). Have found out that if they are switched, you would wash in wrong temp. Doubt that a hose would cause problems because washer wont start unless the proper amount of water is in the tub (also could be a timer problem). Good Luck!!! Jim

OK it may be one of 2 things. I would check the lid switch first. On some maytags the have a lid switch that if it is not working properly it will not let the washer fill. If it will not fill the washer will not wash because the pressure switch did not activate the timer to wash. If the switch checks good you might have a bad timer. If you open the control panel you will find a tech sheet with the wiring diagram. I would follow the fill cycle and check the components. You might also check the water valve to make sure its ok too. But its very rear that both the hot and cold would go at the same time. Good luck!
