Kenmore 70 series will not agitiate - model 110.24722300
A good start here would be to be able to get into the washer, which I am unable to do (so far)... The top is screwed to the sides- can't get to the screws... how do you get into this washer?
The washer fills and stops the water flow, but does not agitate. I do not hear any noise from the timer or anything else- totally silent. The switch for the lid does not make a clicking sound when it is depressed- might just be this. But I need to get inside the washer to do anything...

Check door switch: If
the lid switch is bad it will not drain or spin. Try this test: With lid open
let it finish wash cycle. Press lid switch down with screwdriver. Washer should begin draining.
Release switch. Motor should stop. Press
switch a second time. Washer should
start spinning as it continues to drain. If motor doesn't come on while lid
switch is pressed, replace the switch.
