I returned my 40" a week after i bought it. I got a replacement which is actually worse. I had the Toshiba technician come out to repair my 2 day old telly. He went away scratching his head and was going to sort it out with Toshiba. If I get any joy, I will post the soloution.

Hi guys. Been a bit slack with a soloution. I had the tech come out. He opened the back, put some double sided sticky tape in there , tuned the sound so it sounded like a transistor radio and went away. It still vibrated a little. I tuned the sound so it sounds normal, and it is still annoying. I sent Toshiba a letter(as there is no email address anywhere) and to their credit, they rang me. I was told that they haven't heard of this problem before????? I was also told in a very polite and round about way that it's bad luck and I will have to live with it. Bit disappointing when you spend a little bit extra, but hey, that's life. Will research a lot more when I buy the big one for the rumpus room. Sorry that I didn't come good with a soloution , but I think that the only soloution is not to go with this particular brand.

Same problem with my new Toshiba 55" LCD.
Also, after being on for awhile, the sound suddenly gets distorted in a fuzzy, echoie kind of way. Switching to a non-digital channel and switching back seems to make that correct itself. I may try a new HDMI cable to see if the problem goes away. Any other ideas?

I have a Phillips Fla screen and a few days ago it started making this loud buzzing/hissing sound that somewhat goes away once the TV is on but comes back with a vengeance when we turn the TV back on i...

Most likely if a buzzing or similar sound that is there even with set off--you have a noise coming from a transformer in the standby power supply which is running all the time if the set is plugged in----

Someone would have to open set and listen for it---either a part, a board, or hot glue would have to be used to mute the vibration that is making the sound----one way we locate is with cover off probe with a plastic tool to see where it is.

If you are not able to do this have a tech or a shop "look" for it.

I recently purchased a 52 inch LCD. I have

This could be the speakers are vibrating onto the casing and need padding out more to prevent this.If this isnt the case, you may have a sticking coil on one of your speakers..When the sound distorts, remove one speaker in turn to see which one(s) are the offending unit(s) and replace. Is there a buzzing noise coming from the speakers especially in low volume? If so then you may have a faulty capacitor in your power supply producing hum on sound. Hope this helps :)

Problem with Toshiba DLP Projection TV Model #52HM84

It is possible the lamps may be defective or that they may be the wrong replacement for this model, as it may have a different wattage setup with the ballast. If you want to try to order the TB25 lamp from a different vendor, you can order the original Toshiba replacement lamp for this model (52HM84) from a major Toshiba parts distributor at the link below:
